Question about Sony VAIO VGN-SZ330P/B Notebook
SATA is the newer version of ATA and (S)ATA is also known as IDE. Wish I was smart enough to have remembered that but my memory is leaving me - I'm just good at surfing lol. One other thing worth mentioning - when putting in the new drive, be VERY careful not to force it, use firm but not hard pressure, wiggle if needed (the drive not yourself). The pins bend pretty easily - but can be straightened with a steady hand and a knife/narrow screwdriver so long as they are not overbent.
"Although the standard has always had the official name "ATA", other names such as Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) and Enhanced IDE (EIDE) have also been adopted for marketing purposes. Although these new names originated in branding convention and not as an official standard, the terms EIDE or E-IDE often appear interchangeably with IDE and ATA."
