Question about Televison & Video

I recently purchased a 32''flat screen TV. There is a small white band that runs across the screen. Then starts all over again. Do you know what might cause that? I still get a picture but can see the band in the background.

    I'm not sure what the power point is and where it is located.

  • hess173 Sep 30, 2008

    i asked about the white band running across my screen continually and you suggested turning off the power point waiting 40 mins. and then turning it back on. this didn't solve the problem. any other suggestions?

Hi,

If I may offer an alternative possibility.... it could be interference/noise. If the white band appears in cable/TV mode then, possibly a noisy cable line. In some cases it would appear only on certain channels. If it appears on any other source other than TV/Cable such as your DVD or VCR, then it could be electrical. Possible sources of noise/interference are:

  • electrical from any of the other powered devices. Try plugging the flatscreen in another outlet. You could also try physically relocating either the flatscreen of these devices. These may include electronic ballasts of lamps, electronic dimmers, SMPS (switch mode power supply of any electronic devices including your DVD, VCR, try powering them off & unplugging them;
  • RF noises such as from the DVD, VCRs, Game Boxes, wireless telephones, wireless intercoms;
  • it is also possible to have RF/electrical intereference to be generated by neon lights, special aquarium lights or externally piggy riding in your incoming cable line.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If you just bought it then don't try to fix anything inside the tv as it is a hardware problem and doing so would void the warranty. Take it back and get a different one or have the place you bought it from get it fixed since it should still be under warranty if you just bought it.

let me know if you need anything else

Its the problem of capacitors on the mainboard in the tv .it may be due to moisture or some loose components on circuit tracks on the powersupply board.

It was hardware failure, there must be a defective on the parts inside the TV, and this is now not functioning as normal.. As you mentioned that it was recently bought and i just advise you to put the unit into warranty..

Your problem is that the DMD device is failing. You're in luck, though. Mitubishi has recently released a replacement DMD device in order to keep repair costs down for the consumer. Take your TV to an authorized Mitsubishi servicer for repairs.
