After too many failed attempts, your EVO will become locked. At that point it will ask you to put in your gmail username and password. If you dont know your gmail username and or password, you may have to reset your device. another option is if you have sent any email to any of your friends you can always have them let you know what your gmail address is and you can try to reset your password: here is the link to go to to reset your gmail password:

Alternatively you could go to gmail on a computer and click forgot password. You will lose ALL DATA on phone if you do this. It will be fresh out of box again.

Hey. I set a lock code for my screen so noone could enter my phone. I set it. Then I forgot it. Could you tell me how to do a hard reset?
Unfortunately you must do a factory reset and start over. If all your apps were purchased from market then once you relog on all your data after reset they will download. As well as your contacts.
