If you want to apply a soft reset, i.e., thus keeping all your data and installed applications, press and hold the power button, until a context menu comes up, and tap 'Power off'. Wait for it to turn off, and press and hold the power button again, until you see the Motorola logo screen. It will come back to life restarted. An alternative way, useful in case your phone is stucked in some odd state, is to remove and re-insert the battery pack.
On the other hand, if you want to hard reset your phone, i.e. restore it to its factory defaults, thus loosing everything you have installed, as well as your personal data, if your phone is operational, go to 'Menu > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset'. There is a checkbox to optionally clear of your SD card as well. Then, tap 'Reset phone'. On the other hand, if your phone is stuck (i.e. not operational), proceed as if you were soft resetting it, but, when it starts the process, i.e. as soon as you see the Motorola logo, Press and keep holding the volume down (-) key, until you see an exclamation mark. Then, press both the volume down (-) and up (+) keys. The Motorola boot menu screen will come up. Selection of an item is made through either the volume up or down keys, and selection is through the power button. Select 'Recovery -->', then '[Custom Recovery]' and 'wipe data/factory reset'. You will be prompted to select that action again, listed between a lot of 'No's. Afer the wipe is done, select 'reboot system now'.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out soon.
Anyway, please, let me know if Ican assist you any further.
Regards, Carlos
