I have an OkiData C5500n networked color laser printer and upgraded mac os x to lion or 10.7 Rosetta no longer is supported by Lion so PPC apps and older apple coded programs will no longer work. When I try to install the snow leopard driver it says that Rosetta needed to be installed before the driver could be installed. Well I cheat like I always do and right clicked on the package and open it contents. Went in further and found the driver package itself double clicked and installed the package. I was assuming that this would be successful in installing the drivers. My only problem is no matter what driver I use to try and print it won't work. Generic PCL or PostScript won't work. The only Oki drivers that show in the list now are 9 pin and 24 pin. However this is a networked printer not a serial. So if anyone has any ideas and/or solutions I would be greatly appreciative.

If you are using this printer w/ two different versions on it or if it is on a network you must install both drivers. Your printer has its own web id if it is hooked up to a network. You can go into devices on network, right click on the printer and go to device web page. The problem is you had it working w/ a more advance version and now you are reverting operating systems.

I had same issue...I called OKI 800 number and they walked me thru it - no problems at all now.

try this:

1) Power on printer while holding both the + & - buttons simultaneously; release when "Okiuser" is displayed.
2) Press + or - until "Engine Diag" Mode is displayed; press Enter and Diagnostic Mode xx.xx.xx will be displayed
3) Press and hold both Enter & On-line simultaneously until Eng Diag Level3 is displayed

4) Press + or - until Local Parameter Set is displayed; release and press Enter

5) Press + or - until it displays Factory Mode; if it displays Factory Mode Twice with an asterisk next to one then it is in Factory Mode; Press Enter, Press + or - until it displays Factory Mode & Shipping Mode on the display; then press and hold On-line & Cancel simultaneously; when it stops blinking an asterisk should be displayed next to Shipping Mode, which becomes the default mode.

6) Power printer off then on to complete the procedure.

Unfortunately the latest driver for your OKi printer is not compatibile with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion. Okidata sent out an official announcement (OKI Printer Driver Compatibility with Mac OS X Lion - Revision 1.6) which details expected release dates for various printers.
