Hi,

If I may offer an alternative view.....

I doubt if any of the wireless phones are the concern. This assumption is based on:

  • only 1 was probably messed up on the settings/buttons;
  • phones disconnected;
  • batteries removed (say an hour or so?).
Suggested course of action:
  • remove batteries from wireless and disable the mother/base unit;
  • unplug the base unit from the mains and the telephone outlet (disconnect cord);
  • wait for about 20 minutes, attach a regular phone where the base used to be connected;
  • try making an outgoing call and see if the line is still busy;
  • if not then the line has been verified to be OK;
  • remove the regular phone and attach the base unit. Assuming it has its own built-in handset, try again making an outgoing call;
  • if busy, then base is the issue, if successful, try loading batteries to the 1st wireless unit;
  • try again;
  • if successful, try the secondary unit.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Turn both units off - remove any power source (batteries) & give it about 3 minutes.

CHECK ALL THE FUNCTIONS KEY THAT WAS STUCK OR STICK IN TO PRESS MODE, MOST LIKELY CHECK THE DIAL BUTTON IF IT STILL FUNCTIONING AND WORKING WHEN YOU PRESS IT..

    well. thanks for the rating. i think you are using the site for the first time.
    its ok.

    the message is displayed when the line is being used by another handset or another phone.

    i would suggest you to disconnect the phone line from other handsets and use a single handset in single line.

    this help you sort which hand set is having the problem.

    thank you

    also look into page 18 and 31 of your manual.
    see the 6th point in page 31.

    thank you

How do I get a dial tone.can answer the phone.just cannot dial out

I am NOT familiar with YOUR make and model of phone, BUT.... I've had several cordless phone systems over many years, and have had the same problem that you describe. First, here is some background info for you:

The telephone company systems USUALLY have two different dialing systems:
  1. The "old" ROTARY DIALS worked by MECHANICALLY sending out different numbers of electrical pulses which the MECHANICAL "receivers" at the phone company "Central Office" buildings would read and thus connect you to the dialed number.
  2. Some years ago, a "new" dialing system was initiated. That system was called Dual-Tone-Multi-Frequency [or for short, DTMF].
DTMF uses BUTTON KEYS which put out a different electronically generated TONE [related to] for each different NUMBER key pushed, and THAT series of tones told/tells the phone company Central Office receiver computer the number to which you wanted to be connected.

Around the world over the years, most phone companies have, and still use one of these two dialing systems, AND...

Most cordless phone manufacturers designed their phones to work WITH EITHER system, BUT....

The customer IS REQUIRED to "SELECT" which system his phone company uses, while the customer is "SETTING UP" his/her new cordless phone.

THAT process IS INCLUDED in ALL cordless phone set-up instruction packages I've ever seen!!!!!!

Either you need to carefully read and study YOUR installation-set-up instructions and then PROPERLY set your phone's dialing system [to PULSE or DTMF], OR GET SOMEONE who KNOWS WHAT he, or she is doing to do it for you.

I, and I think no one else is able to guide you via back and forth messaging on this site. At least I know I can't because I'm not acquainted with your cordless phone, AND I don't have an instruction/set-up manual to consult!!!!!

Track down your manual, OR search for a replacement manual; the dialer system selection process is NOT DIFFICULT IF you have the manual!!!!!!!
