Some DVDs will play and some won't. Those that won't just remain at the 'reading...' stage or say 'format unsupported.' They are all of the same code with the player, so that is not the problem. Any suggestions? Just opened a brand new four disc TV series, only to find that none of the four will play.

Sometimes cleaning the disk will solve the problem. Also resetting the system by pulling the power cord and putting it back in can solve the problem. If this does not help, then sometimes updating the system with the latest software can help. Just call Bose and ask for an update disk. Last but not least if nothing works, send the unit to Bose for repair.
Check the disk for scratches, and attempt to play it on another DVD player or your computer, if it has a DVD drive installed. The drive will have DVD written on the front. If the disk isn't a commercial DVD but playable on the computer then the problem is a unsupported format. To make sure your DVD player is working correctly put a known good DVD the player to ensure it still works.
