Question about Radio Shack Pro-94 Scanner
I own a PRO-94 and once in a while the scanner loses all of its memory and resets. Well, I thought maybe its something minor. Then, a buddy of mine gave me his to fix due to the same issue. I opened the whole scanner up from top to bottom and figured it must me a backup battery issue. Just replace the backup. Well, does this scanner have a battery backup because I found nothing inside of it, that was a battery backup. Where in the world is it?? Does this model not have one?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This sounds like you're monitoring an EDACS system and are not in trunking mode (search or scan). EDACS systems transmit those tones to make scanning less enjoyable. Read the manual to find out more about programming and monitoring trunked systems.

I have same problem. First unplug and then turn radio on to clear any left over power. Open the radio by removing 4 screws on back, then 4 more screws to remove top of inner case. then you will see a white ribbon cable. This has either come loose or it is not lined up properly on the connector. There are tabs on each end of the connector, you will need a super tiny screwdriver like for use on eyeglasses to open the tabs. Slide them towards the display or front of radio to remove the ribbon cable. I then used some alcohol and a q-tip and cleaned the metal contact point. then I slid the cable into place, and being careful not to touch anything inside radio, turn it on and check display. It took some moving around for me but finally got it to come back. Then close tabs on connector to hold ribbon cable in place. It seems to be a common problem with this radio.

Your pro 95 takes the same yellow rechargable battery pack as the pro 97. It is available at the site listing below. It is their #100-006. It cost 5.99 plus 10.95 shipping. I ordered it 4 days ago and got it two days ago. You may be able to save on shipping by calling them and requesting some sort of slower shipping.

Could the display be saying "wired"? This is what it shows when it is in cloning or programming mode. If it is showing this and there is no programming or cloning cable attached, check the programming jack to see if it is damaged.
