Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console

1 Answer

Not recognizing Xbox games

Periodically the xbox unit will not recognize some of our games. It is becoming more often over the past several months. The cds are in good shape with no obvious scratches. Sometimes unplugging the power supply helps, but again, that is with diminishing success. Can you offer a suggestion?

Wht does it mean when you put a xbox 360 gme in the console and it says play dvd and sometimesa wont read the game discs

When it says play dvd, it just randomly doesn't recognize that it's a game. Press A and you'll enter the game.
When it doesn't recognize the disc all together, I'd suggest cleaning the disc with an anti-static cloth then putting the disc back in.

XBox cannot read games

It sounds like the DVD rom may be having issues, this is fairly common unfortunately. You will want to call Microsoft for a free replacement unit if it continues to do it.

Hard drive not read

Thats because the elite will only recognize a 60gb or higher. Pretty much you are keeping your xbox from operating at it's full potential.

When this starts happening, it appears that you have a problem with the DVD player. You could try to buy a DVD lens cleaner (it looks like a CD with a little brush on it), but I suspect you may ahve to take it to an authorised service technician to get the DVD unit replaced.
