The heating coil is faulty so even though the machine starts it does not heat up.heating coil needs to be replaced compulsory to get ur machine back to work . its a very common problem in dryers.

Check for wires that could have vibrated off, or been reconnected when someone was working on the unit.

If that does not work, or is not the case, then your mode selection switch may have taken a dump. Try using a USED switch or if you want to spend the money, buy a new one.

Good luck,

Kindly,Jim

Dryer runs but no heat. My husband is pretty smart with appliance fixes. Do you think that this thermal fuse solution would be easier enough for him to fix or should we get a repairman?

Hello,
The thermal fuse is not going to be the problem...when the thermal fuse has gone out the dryer will not start so since it runs the thermal fuse is good. The number one thing that is wrong with a gas dryer when it doesn't heat is going to be a broken igniter, this tip i wrote explains what to check when a gas dryer doesn't heat http://www.fixya.com/support/r10293028-gas_dryer_not_heating

Whirlpool ggw9868kq .Ducts are clean, airflow is good. Drum rotates. Dryer warms up then heating stops. happens in both auto and timed cycles.

My whirlpool dryer Model GGW9896KQ2 seems to run ok but it doesn't seem to heat up properly and takes several cycles to dry clothes. I checked the exhaust vent and it seems to be blowing air out ok. Also, it appears the dryer goes to the cool down cycle way to early. In addition, the dryer will sometimes shut off before the time is acutally done. help--I don't want to spend money for a tech or even a new dryer. It's only 8 years old.

My dryer is not heating. it runs but no heat.

YOU HAVE A FUSE OUT IN THE SERVICE BOX WHICH RUNS THE
HEATING ELEMENT. THERE ARE TWO FUSES, OR YOU COULD HAVE
TWO BREAKERS ALSO. ONE OF THEM IS OUT.
CHECK THE ELECTRICAL SERVICE BOX AND REPLACE THE FUSE.
THE FUSE THAT IS GOOD IS RUNNING THE DRUM ONLY.

I have a Frigidaire Dryer (very liittle use, 2 winters) it runs a few minutes then all lights blink and stops running. Do I really need to replace the "motherboard" and spend $160, and can I fix...

the first thing to check is the main terminal block and make sure you have the correct amount of power to the unit.

If you have a power meter you can check the continuity on all the thermal fuses one on the back wall of the unit and the other on the heating element can and the other on the front blower housing.

if every thing elsse checks as good then you will need to replace the main control board

Whirlpool electric dryer that will not heat up, dryer comes on and turns, but no heat

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses. An electric dryer uses two circuit breakers or fuses, and if only one of two is tripped or blown, the dryer might still run but not heat. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Heating element
A burned out heating element will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Replace the element if found defective.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.
