I am trying to input the password or key to connect a wireless router. I put in the password but it says incorrect. Where is the key? For wireless, do I need a LAN adapter? Error code 51331 Thank you

You don't need a lan adapter for the Wii, in order to find your network key you will have to log onto the wireless router and retrieve it from the wireless setting.

How to set up the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter

Overview

If you connected to Xbox LIVE after October 28, 2009, a software update was installed on your Xbox 360 console to support the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter. If the update was installed on your console, all you need to do is to configure the wireless settings. To learn how to do this, please see the following article:
908877 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908877/ ) How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox 360 console
If you have not connected to Xbox LIVE since October 28, 2009, you will need to use the installation disc included with your Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adaptor to install software on your Xbox 360 console.

To install the software for a Wireless N Networking Adapter

1. If an Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter is plugged in to your console, unplug it.

2. Insert the installation disc included with the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adaptor into your Xbox 360 console.

3. Turn off the console.

4. Turn the console back on.

The software update should start automatically. If the update does not start automatically, the software might already be installed.

Note If you receive a mixed media error message, please see the section titled "Mixed media error message" below.
5. When you are prompted to install the software, select Yes, update now.

6. If a network cable is plugged in to the back of your console, unplug it.

7. Once the installation is complete, plug the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adaptor into the USB port on the back of your console.

For information about attaching and configuring your wireless adapter, please see the following article: 908877 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908877/ ) How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox 360 console

8. Remove the installation disc from the disc drive.

9. Turn off your console, and then turn it on again.

Mixed media error message

If you receive a mixed media error message, auto-play might be turned off. Here’s how to turn it on:

1. On your console, go to My Xbox, and then select System Settings.

2. Select Console Settings.

3. Select Auto-Play.

4. Select Enable.5. Repeat the steps for installing the wireless adapter (above).
Next step:

For information about how to configure the wireless settings on your console, please see the following article: 908877 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908877/ ) How to configure wireless settings on your Xbox 360 consoleDo not try to repair the wireless networking adapter.

Do not take your Xbox 360 console or accessories to a retailer for repair or service unless an Xbox support agent instructs you to do this.

Do not try to disassemble, service, or modify the Xbox 360 console, the power supply, or any accessories. If you do this, you might put yourself at risk of serious injury or death from electric shock or fire. For your own safety, such actions will void your warranty.

Dont know how to set up xbox live with wireless

Is this a new slim unit or the original system? If it is the original system you cannot set up live wirelessly without purchasing a wireless adapter.
If you have the newer slim model which is black with vents running up the side.
stoshua.jpg Slim Orignal
They both can be configured via the dashboard. You need to go to system settings (last screen on the dashboard all the way to the right) Choose network settings Choose wireless network Choose network settings You will need to know your wireless network's ESSID, encryption type, and key.Provided your router is set up to assign your network devices with an IP address automatically (DHCP) you should be fine at this point else you will also need to manually configure your PI address, subnet mask and as well as your gateway.
Once you enter in the information you can go back to the settings screen and test your connection to xbox live. The xbox will attempt to verify a connection to you LAN (local area network) then the internet and finally to xbox live servers. If you entered everything properly you should have no issues with connecting.

if its asking for a WEP key then your wireless network is a secured one..you will need to put the same key as you had originally used while setting your wireless network..are you able to connect to the wireless from a laptop?
see the message that comes on your ps3 when you scan for available networks..you will know if your wireless has security..
you can chnage the security of your wireless by logging oto it by typing 192.168.1.1 in the laptop browser and then configure/change security settings..hope it helps..

What is a WPA for an xbox 360 wireless networking adaptor

To connect your console to a wireless network Turn on your console and any wireless networking devices (such as a router or an access point).Attach the wireless networking adapter to the back of your console.Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard to enter your network settings. If all settings are correct, exit the System area. Your console should now be connected to your wireless network. Your WPA is your wireless security for your network. When you secured your network it asked you for your WPA key. Thats what you need to use. I hope you wrote it down somewhere. If not you'll have to log into your router and just change it to something new. If you do that make sure to right it down some where safe.

Link Your Console to Another Console

Console-to-Console Connection: Wireless Some Xbox games offer console-to-console, or system-link, play, in which two or more players (depending on the game) can wirelessly network their consoles for multiplayer use. Console-to-console wireless networks are also known as ad-hoc networks. In ad-hoc networks, a wireless adapter on one device connects directly to a wireless adapter on another device. An Internet connection isn't shared with this type of network, and the console-to-console connection is typically temporary. For console-to-console play, you need: Two Xbox 360 consoles. Two Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapters. An Xbox 360 game that supports system link play. To wirelessly connect your console to another console: Attach an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter to the back of each console as described in Use Your Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter. On each console, go to the System area to enter your network settings. (They will be the same for each console.) If all settings are correct, exit the System area. The consoles should now be wirelessly connected to each other.
