Question about Hitachi 50UX26B/27K 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Convergence problem You responded to my problem by suggesting that I adjust from the internal focus adjustment block on the flyback transformer. After gazing at the internal components for quite some time I did not notice anything that resembled an adjustment. Can you help me locate the adjustment you refer to. I really can't afford to call out the service people. Thanks

Convergence problem - 8ff6cdd.jpg
This is a common television flyback transformer , it has two potentiometers ( POTS ) variable resistors , how ever you wanna say it , the one above has 3 , one of them is the focus

you can use a plastic screwdriver or plastic wand , or small metal screw driver if nothing else

Here's a closeup of one that has only two potentiometers

ed6c36f.jpg
One of them is the focus adjustment

to adjust the focus/sharpness of the image you see on the screen

1. find which one is the focus , you will know because adjusting it out of calibration will cause
the screen to go out of focus untill you adjust it correctly.

to adjust it correctly , rock it back and forth untill you see the sharpest image , then your done.

if you accidently get the wrong one by mistake your screen will increase in brightness
set the brightness lower rather than higher , because you don't want it to be over saturated.

If the colors appear to be aligned and the only isue is focus, than you can adjust the focus on the flyback transformer. Carefully remove the rear cover and locate the flyback transformer (part with large red wire coming out the top). There should be 2 controls/adjustment points on it. One is for screen and the other for focus. Try adjusting the focus using a mirror to see the front of the set. You should adjust the control back and forth a ferw times to "loosen" it up a bit before settling down to the focus point.

Update this with the results.

The convergance menue is gone. I need to adjust the convergance badly but it is no longer in the menu

You need to resolder the flyback transformer and replace fuse FL221 off pin 11 of the flyback transformer. The convergence power supply is not coming on so system control thinks a convergence circuit is not installed.

Mitsubishi Convergence issue

If the screen is out of focus you probably need to adjust the focus on the focus block it is usually located behind the front grill, there are 6 adjustment screws on this block, leave the screen controls along just adjust the red, green, and blue focus screws. When converging a set everything is converged to the green, the blue and red are suppose to come to the green.

Hitachi 50UX27K convergence problems. Magic Focus will temporarily fix but falls out of focus after several minutes

This must be adjusted by a professional television repair center

Or if you are me you can open it up and start looking for the internal focus adjustment block
normaly located on the flyback transformer

I highly recommend you don't go digging around in there unless you know what you're doing.

I'm not responsible for accidental death due to following my trouble shooting procedures.

Convergence images?

The blue picture tube of a projection tv is usually the weakest in ability to focus and in most cases loses its focus ablility before the red and green. Connect a cross-hatch generator to the rf inputs of the unit and check to see which areas are most out of convergence. The corners are usually the worst. HD will always bring out the slightest imperfections. If the unit was totally out of convergence, I would have suggested replacing the convergence IC'S.In my experience with rear projection, your problem is normal wear . You could conceivably improve the picture by adjusting the blue focus on the screen focus block. Scrivitron

No its a tube and not a bulb. If thew line is green then theres an issue with the red and blue as the green is stationary on most sets unless thers a green centering ? Its a componet on the convergence board thats bad or going bad but if you replace any components on the board most likly your gonna need to do a convergence alighnment I would let a pro handle this repair unless your an experineced repair tech Good Luck
