System restore:
To use System Restore to restore Windows XP to a previous state, follow these steps:
  • Log on to Windows as an administrator.
  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
  • On the Welcome to System Restore page, click to select the Restore my computer to an earlier time option, and then click Next.
  • On the Select a Restore Point page, click the most recent system restore point in the On this list, click a restore point list, and then click Next.
  • Note A System Restore message may appear that lists configuration changes that System Restore will make. Click OK.
  • On the Confirm Restore Point Selection page, click Next. System Restore restores the previous Windows XP configuration, and then restarts the computer.

If you successfully restored your computer to a previous state, and the computer performs as expected, you are finished.

reboot your computer when the screen goes black just after your bios screen and just before the windows loading page press F8
select safe mode once in safemode select system recovery in help and support, and restore your computer to a previous time.
take it back about 2 weeks and reboot. that should do it.

When my computer starts up it goes to a black screen after windows set-up is finished. How do i fix this?

It is a software error within windows, either your hdd is corrupt or your installation dvd. Tryin at the black screen hittin ctrl+alt+del and then file run new task and type explorer.exe and run if windows loads then you have corrupt data.,

When It goes to loading screen it restarts

It is becasue of your computer is not properly shut down and so your harddisk has some bed indexing of memory location.
For that you need winxp disk or recovery disk.
Then boot your computer with that disk .
You have to set first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.;
For that when you power up press F1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then go to boot option then sewt first boot device as your cd or dvd rom.
then save settings then put winxp or recovery disk in rom.
Then follow the procedure .
Then enter in recovery console then type in prompt "chkdsk /r"
then it fix error on harddisk.
Sometimes this command fix eror and then after restart windows load normally but sometimes need to repair windows.
So after check this if still face issue just chose "r" when it finds your previous version of windows then it recovers your windows.

Let me know if you need more assistanse.
Thanks.

Monitor turned black when i change the resolution to 32bit

press f8 when the computer starts up before windows boots and select start in vga mode or low resolution mode. after you get into windows change the video settings again but if the screen goes black, dont touch anything...it will revert back to what it was before. most likely, the resolution you picked isnt supported by the monitor. you also want to make sure that oyu have the video drivers installed properly aswell.

Can not find restore disk

Did this problem just happen out of the blue? Were you using it and suddenly the PC just up and went belly-up? If so, it sounds like you may have bigger problems than merely a Windows problem. If you don't even see the eMachines logo at bootup before the Windows logo, then something more serious, like a motherboard issue, is your problem. Post back with more specifics, but if you don't see anything at all at booting, like any text or logo or anything, then at the very least the integrated ATI video isn't working. The solution then is either get it fixed with a new motherboard or buy a new one. As this particular model is >1 year old, it won't be under warranty, hence more expensive than it's worth.

On the other hand, did you make any hardware changes that you didn't mention? If so, post back with details.

Trying to restore dell 4400 and cannot get to a dell screen for f-12

If you boot from the XP CD and choose the first repair option it will load to a DOS prompt. From there type "chkdsk /r" and press enter. This will run checkdisk on your hard drive and repair any problems that it finds. It will take 45 minutes or more depending on the size of your drive. Once it finishes type exit to reboot and remove the CD. Your computer should boot normally.

Desktop will not load up

The computer should be fine, make sure there is no dust covering the fan or inside the computer. If not you can use the recovery disc that came with the computer, or a Windows XP cd to fix your installation, if that is the problem.
