Wifi issues Not able to connect to my Etisalat Al Shamil Wifi connection using my HTC Touch. The phone keeps telling me to check network settings. I had managed to connect to the net for a couple of days and then it just stopped working on it's own. Had installed a self attested device certificate and that was when it first got connected. Can anyone please help me out?

Na there isn't any block by the administrator. The network in question is my
home network. The problem seems to be cropping up only in secured networks even
after entering the right password. And yes, i have installed a few software on
my phone. Just an e-wallet, fring, octrotalk. That's it. Could they be the
problem? Should i try uninstalling it?

I am picking the right network using the right key. Are HTC phones incompatible with modems of a certain make? I have a Siemens. is that possible?

Hi,
Try these.....
Many have the same problem with the TOUCH.
1. Just put the power level to the max (i.e. go Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Wireless LAN -> Power Mode -> and slide all the way LEFT to Best Performance).
2. Check that you don't have MAC ADDRESS FILTERING at the router. It may be hidden under Filter settings.

Hope my info helps you,
Thanx for using fixya,
Cheers.

Connect to wireless networks
After Wi-Fi is turned on in Comm Manager, your device scans for available wireless networks in your area.
To connect to a wireless network
1. The network names of the detected wireless networks will be displayed on a pop-up message window. Tap the desired wireless network, then tap OK.
2. On the next pop-up message window, tap The Internet if the wireless network connects your device to the Internet. Otherwise, tap Work if the wireless network connects your device to a private network.
3. If the wireless network is secured by a network key, enter this key, then tap Connect.
Next time you want to connect to the wireless network that you selected, just turn on Wi-Fi in Comm Manager and you will automatically be connected. You will not see the pop-up message windows again, and you will not be prompted to enter the network key of the previously accessed wireless network (unless you perform a hard reset which will erase custom settings on your device).
Note Wi-Fi networks are self-discoverable, which means no additional steps are required for your device to connect to a Wi-Fi network. It may be necessary to provide a username and password for certain closed wireless networks.
140 Getting Connected
To check wireless network status
You can check the current wireless connection status from any of the following screens of your device:
• Title bar.
When you enable Wi-Fi on your device, the Wi-Fi ON icon ( ) will appear on the title bar.
After Wi-Fi is turned on, your device scans for available wireless networks and the wireless signal icon ( ) appears on the title bar. The arrows in this icon will move back and forth while your device is scanning for a wireless network signal. Once your device successfully connects to a wireless network, the arrows stop moving.
• Wi-Fi Status screen.Tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Wireless LAN > Main tab to see the name of the wireless network that your device is currently connected to.
The configuration and signal quality of the wireless network are also shown.
• Configure Wireless Networks screen.Tap Start > Settings > Connections tab > Wi-Fi > Wireless tab. This screen displays the wireless networks currently available.
To connect to a wireless network in the list, tap and hold on the desired network, then tap Connect.
Tap a wireless network in the list to view or change its connection settings.
You can also add new wireless networks, if available, by tapping Add New.

good luck...

You need to enter the wireless network key of the wifi device or the wireless router on your phone settings. You can also try changing the channel on your wireless router then do a power cycle. Unplug the power to your wifi device for 30 seconds then plug it back in.

It sounds like an interference problem. Have you tried changing the wireless channel of your Etisalat Al Shamil Wifi connection? Normally its on channel 6. Change it to channel 11 and try to reconnect.

Check that the phone is not connecting by mistake to a different wi fi network, in this case you will get an error message, as the network key will be different.

Ensure you are using the right network key if needed.

If you cannot sort it out do a phone settings reset from phone menu and set again the wi fi network , so to ensure that you are oicking up the right network using the right key.

yes there can be even a compatibility issue ... please have a check with your manuals

  • dewan nafees ahmed Sep 29, 2008

of that procedure does not work then it is best for you to contact HTC and get this hardware issue cleared.

this is a clear problem with some hardware or else a corrupted firmware.

    thank you

Why has my mobile phone WiFi stopped working at home?

Open your wifi on the phone and press and hold the wifi network that you want to connect to then click (modify) re-enter the security code for the wifi network again and then connect. If that does not work then the wifi signal is weak and you'll need to get closer to your router.

Another thing is to choose United States for your Wifi Region in the wifi advanced settings menu.
-- uncheck (avoid poor connections)
-- check scanning always available
-- Wifi Region Code (select United States)

I hope that helps

I m a new user of htc s620. i dont know how to use wifi conection on it . i saw more videos on youtube but their programe was not in my phone and is the wifi conection works in pakistan? thank u

Hi,

The wifi connection on your htc phone can be accessed by going to the connection settings which is located under the phone settings on your S620.you will see the option which says turn on wifi in the sub menu under the wifi, simply click on turn on,and you are good to go.

The wifi connection will only work in a location where there is broadband internet connection network which is shared and can be accesed by wifi, which is irespective of the country.
When you turn on the wifi connection on your phone,it automatically scans for available networks and you will be prompted to connect to any of the available networks it recognizes, but if it doesn't get any available network it means there is no wifi connection in the location you are situated.

Thanks and Good luck!!!!

HTC Viva and WIFI Problem Connection

Hello, wifi is a sort of WLAN conection. you need a wireless router to be able to use wifi. there are two ways to connect to the internet on the touch viva. 1st way is by the sim card and that costs you a lot of money!!! the other way is by a wlan router, you can access to the internet as long as you want is you have a flatrate. My good tipp: switch off the gprs connection, it will only cost you a lot of money. you will still be able to make phone calls. Ilost about 60$ (i mean it!) by trying to access to the internet by gprs.

Could not connect with wi fi

Thats a pretty awkward error message your getting... You should talk to your carrier about the gprs services thing, but you can also try 'get settings' - from your carrier. To do this, go to start>settings>phone>services tab. Then select network service and tap get settings and select standard. If it is on home only, that might be your problem, even though I have never tried home only.
