Evaporator fan motor blade installation

I am replacing evaporator fan motor and blade on my maytag fridge. The part came separated from the blade and no instructions. The plastic blade has a spring on end that secures it to the motor. How is this supposed to be installed? Do i tap it on or use a pair of spring pliers to put spring on after i put the plastic blade on? I want to make sure it is secured properly and any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Maytag top freezer model# MTF2191ARW

This has to be the evap. fan motor. I have ran into this alot. If you take the vent off the topcenter of the freezer back panel useing a simple flat head unlock the clips. Once you see the fan blades push it with your finger carefully if it spins slow and little wobblely the motor has failed. If it turns not at all then check for 120V. going into the motor by unhooking it if you get 120V motor bad if you get nothing then the Jazzboard or Highvoltage control board has failed. To install a new fanmotor is easy take your time most parts come out with a flathead screw driver and 1/4inchnutdriver. Evap. fan motor is just clipped in.

SOURCE: Maytag MFD2561HES Reefer not cooling

hello frooska,

kindly look at the back panel of the freezer section. if you can hear the humming sound, find out where it is coming from. if the sound is coming from the compressor, that means the evaporator fan is not running.

but, take note that u need to press the door switch of the freezer in order to check the fan. the fan stops every time the door is open. if the fan is not running, you have to remove the middle panel, above the evaporator, the fan would be there. ( in the freezer section)

but if the fan is running and the back panel of the freezer is full of frost, then that would be a defrost issue.

defrost heater, bi-metal or defrost controller.

SOURCE: Maytag Fridge (Model # MZD2766GEW) not cooling

Check to see if you have frost on the back panel of your freezer in your fridge. If you do your coil is frozen over and you'll have to defrost your freezer. I just did mine cause mine wasn't cooling properly on my fridge side.

SOURCE: maytag fridge has constant running water sound

you hear a constant running water sound? look in your manual under "normal operating sounds". it explains all of the sounds. it sounds like you're hearing the refrigerant going thru your evap. coil located behind the rear frzr panel. you unit goes into the defrost cycle roughly every 8hrs and water drip down into the condensate pan un the refrig.

Samsung RB31F Fridge/Freezer - fridge temperature too high, freezer OK

1-The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won't dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator becomes less efficient, causing the refrigerator to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty-if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.
2-The evaporator fan motor draws air over the evaporator (cooling) coils and circulates it throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Some refrigerators have more than one evaporator fan motor. On refrigerators with only one evaporator, the evaporator is located in the freezer compartment. If the evaporator fan is not working, it will not circulate the cold air to the refrigerator compartment. If this occurs, the freezer may still get cold, while the refrigerator will not get cold. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor.

I have a side by side whirlpool fridge and the freezer is fine but the fridge is now freezing everything. It's about 11 years old.

Since you stand to loose all the food I would call a service tech ASAP. But here are the most common reasons for the problem you have.
Cause 1
The Evaporator Coils are Frosted Over The defrost heater assembly turns on a few times throughout the day to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the defrost heater assembly is defective, frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporator coils, and the coils will become plugged with frost. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, the airflow through the coils will be restricted, causing the refrigerator not to cool. Check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system.
Cause 2
Evaporator Fan Motor The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. If the evaporator fan is not working, the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor..
Cause 3
Damper Control Assembly The air damper control opens and closes to let the proper amount of cold air into the refrigerator compartment. If the damper does not open properly, it won't let enough cold air into the refrigerator. Check the damper control to determine if it is broken or stuck closed.

Fan not working on fridge freezer

That's the evaporator fan! If its not running, it can be due to several reasons. First check for voltage at the fan motor. Then make sure nothing is caught in the fan blades. If the blades are free and there is voltage to the motor and it still does not run, then replace the evaporator fan motor.
Hope this helps!

I have a GE GTS18EBMFRWW fridge. The evaporator fan shaft is very wobbly causing the fan to strike the rear cover. Does the fan motor need to be replaced?

This DIAGRAM shows the fan motor and fan blade as being able to be replaced separately. The shaft is part of the motor so it will probably have to be replaced.

Maytag plus model mzd2766gew freezer working refrigerator

Temp. control knobs,

Small fan in freezer, it should start working after opening the freezer door for a couple of minutes. If it does not start, use a pen or pencil to turn the blades, if it kick in, replace motor.

Remove freezer back panel (where the little fan is) and check for iced evaporator coil, if so, unplug unit and use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt ice, make sure the air duct going to the fridge is clear.
Once this is done, restart unit

Yes , motor is bad . May not start , next time cuts off . The fan in the back by the compressor , is called the condensor fan motor . I would suggest cleaning the coils in front at the bottom , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , before replaceing the fan motor . Also , clean the fan blade before reinstalling the motor .
