If your os often corrupted means it can be due to a virus......because 50% of the xp crashes will be occuring due to virus......i am computer engineer.....and i have handled these crashes many times....thats why i am telling.....otherwise the problem will be in motherboard.....but if motherboard is new....the chances that caused crashes by motherboard will be very less or nil.....so i better suggest you to scan your computer with a good anitivirus.....because if virus exists the chances of crashing will be high.....the best antivirus i suggest you to use kaspersky internet secuity 7.0......as it detection rate is higher than any other antivirus......if your problem still persists i suggest you to call software engineer to solve the problem....because by seeing the your computer only one can know the exact problem....thats why....

SOURCE: Windows XP drivers for Sony VAIO Laptop

There is no easy answer for this type of question, unfortunately. The best I can do is offer some advice. While installing XP is always possible, and most of the time preferred by the user, not all of the hardware will work every time with every computer. That's just a disclaimer. I think this thread may be useful to you: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=128804

SOURCE: Boot Loder Problem when working with two operating System

best practice it when installing windows and linux install windows first and then linux. GRUB or LILO boot loader is much better then windows boot loader and very easy to reinstall. Mandriva cd should have a rescure feature that will allow you to reinstall the boot loader.

System restarting again and again on startup

There are many reasons for this issue.

1. Make sure the Processor fan is working and the ventilators are not blocked.
2.Make sure system is not over heated. if its overheating check the fan or replace the processor cooling paste,

3. A faulty RAM. Refix the RAM sticks and resart your pc.

4.Currupted OPerating system. Try to access Safe mode By pressing F8 and see whether you able to start

If you are able to start system in safe mode, uninstall new softwares installed and restart your pc

If you are not able to access safe mode, you need to reparir your operating system.

Put he OS CD and start repairing.

ok

Window xp

The problem may be due to curruption of the system file.
One of the solution is :- Go to Start > Run and type 'sfc /scannow' (without the quotes). This will run the System File Checker that will replace any damaged or corrupted system files.
If it is not solved yet, try with a updated antivirus for a trojan or spyware.
