I have the same unit that is not working at this time, but if I remember correctly try this: Once the "yes" comes up to erase, hit the erase button again. If that doesn't work, press in the center of the large round button. Hope this works for you, if not download instructions from website.

This function resets the current time and other settings to their initial

want to erase the entire memory of the recorder.
1 Hold the STOP button, and hold the ERASE button for 3
seconds or longer.
2 Press the FF or REW button to select the “YES”.
3 Press the PLAY button.

Olympus vn-240, I try to record and screen says full. It says memory is completely available, no recordings?

Have you tried to reset the device. By resetting it it should clear all of the data and then it should be ready for use again. To reset it you hold down the stop and erase buttons at the same time - CLR appears on the screen - select to Yes and then press Enter. The device should then be reset and all data removed. You should be able to start recording again.
