After "Fast Boot" has been enabled, you cannot access the BIOS setup during power on . The machine will bypass "Press F2 to access Setup Utiltiy and F12 for Boot Menu" prompt.
This is a bigger issue if the hard drive crashes and access to Windows is not possible OR

Fast Boot can be enabled or disabled in the BIOS setup, or in HW Setup under Windows.
If you have Fast Boot enabled and you want to get into the BIOS setup. Hold down the F2 key, then power on. That will get you into the BIOS setup Utility.
You can disable the Fast Boot Option here. You will need to disable Fast Boot if you want to use the F12 / Boot menu.

Easist way to disable he password is to, restart the Pc, as it is starting up hit F8 key repetitively until you get into the boot menu. Once in the boot menu, look for Start in Safe mode, Once you start the Pc is safe mode You should get to the log on screen, It should show 1 new user, Know as Admin- The password- If there is one will be, admin or admin doesn't work try signing in with out any password.Once logged in go to your control panel and the into User Acct and disable the Password! Hi I have a satellite l30-134 and I am unable to boot the laptop without the request for a bios password, I have tried everything I know can you help with some suggestions please, I can not even boot off...

Power on password. You will not be able to boot from anything until you disable this, even removing the CMOS battery wil not work.

Options are:

1.) Email Toshiba and get them to send you an unlock code
2.) Try visiting Dogberts site of reverese engineersing for his brute force pass cracker

If you feel confident, on this laptop there is a way of removing the password, I take no responsibility iof it goes wrong.

Remove the Ram module cover
Under the ram modules there are two contacts marked C88 and an X near them
Touch the two contacts with a screwdriver and power up the laptop, the bios screen should now go and you can access the laptop.

Cant boot

If you are sure no one has tampered with it and entered a HDD password and it is not prompting for a password then it is most likely a HDD failure. It is possible the BIOS will still recognize the HDD. Try disconnecting and reconnecting the HDD if you can access it there should be screws on the bottom marked with a cylinder symbol.

HITACHI HARD DRIVE LOCKED

Hello Oldnovii
This Toshiba notebook has both a BIOS and hard drive lock on it. The client has already paid $ 25 to the Toshiba depot to have the BIOS lock removed now they want $ 100 to remove the hard drive lock. The hard drive lock cannot be removed by trying to bypass it using a boot cd or disabling the hard drive boot option in the BIOS. Any help will be appreciated since my client has now had the notebook for 2 weeks and cannot use it. Thanks
