It's just the same with me: after downloading and installing the software, I inserted the r4card and it just says 'loading...'. I have tried to install other versions, but nothing works. Now what? I really hope someone will be able to help...

Sometimes i can just take it out and put it back in. it might also be the way you loaded the directory of files... have you ever had the R4 work, or is this the first time you are loading it?

How to add a games

hi,
read this
If you've already downloaded Free Nintendo DS Lite Game Roms but still do not have any idea how to install and play with it, then do not fret. There is a simple procedure in doing it.
After this complete step by step tutorial, your NDS Rom games will be automatically copied into your R4DS and you'll be able to play like a pro. I assume that you use Windows XP or higher and you have sufficient computer skills to follow me through.
1. Unzip the zip file you've downloaded using your favorite unzip application. Keep it in a safe place for future use.
2. Remove your microSD card from the R4DS cartridge.
3. Insert your microSD card to the microSD USB adaptor that you got when you bought your R4DS.
4. Insert the microSD USB adaptor (where your microSD card is inserted) to your PC's USB port. Windows will automatically detect it.
5. Go to My Computer. You'll see a new drive in it. That's your microSD card. Double click it.
6. Copy the .NDS file that you unzipped on step 1 and paste it on the drive that you opened on step 5. Never paste it to any directory. Just paste it on the root directory. You only need to copy the .NDS files, no more, no less, just ignore the other files that goes with the zip file.
7. Safely remove your USB drive when done copying all the NDS files. I guess, you know how to do this. If not, ask anyone around you. icon_smile.gif8. Remove the microSD card from the microSD USB adaptor.
9. Insert the microSD card to your R4DS cartridge.
10. Insert your R4DS cartridge to your Nintendo DS Lite.
11. Turn on your Nintendo DS Lite. If you followed all the directions above correctly, you'll be able to see the copied games on the list of games on your R4DS now. Enjoy!
Of course, please note that copying game ROMs to your R4DS is illegal, unless you have the original copy of the game and you're just copying the backup file. R4DS is definitely NOT illegal, it's how you handle and deal with it that could make it illegal. So just make sure that you're copying a back-up of your games. Enjoy!

Everytime i put a sd card on the ds the game always stops

This tends to happen when one of three things comes into play.

1. The SD card was not properly formated before putting R4 software on it.
2. The R4 Software is out of date and needs to be updated.
3. The Rom is corrupt and should be reinstalled.

I'm not sure what kinda of Card you are using in your DSL but here is a link to the R4 Downloads Section: (NOTE: ONLY USE IF YOU HAVE THIS BRAND)

R4 card shows 'loading' and wil go to next screen on NDS. SD card works in other r$ so its not the card. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have the wrong firmware on the R4 card. I had a similar problem when I swapped cards with my granddaughter. I had the "R4 Revolution....etc" card and she had a "R4 Upgrade Revolution....etc". They look the same but un beknown to me they need different firmware!!

For the R4 you should using kernel R4 DS v1.18
http://www.r4ds.me/download/r4_v1.18_kernel.html

For the R4 Upgrade this should be R4-III v3.13

Had to format memory card what do i need to run r4 and memorycard

You will need to download and reinstall the R4 firmware.
After downloading and decompressing the new updated files, there will be one shell folder and two files _DS_MENU.DAT, and _DS_MSHL.NDS.Copy these files to the root directory of TF card to replace the former files (ex. F:\ or E:\).

You can download the update files and firmware here:

Nothing sees my R4DS card!

Yes,

First you need to make sure you format your Micro-SD card in Windows to FAT32 format. Then load the latest software files onto your micro-sd card. You can get these from http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4ds.html

Then in the root directory of the MicroSD card, make a folder called "Games" (without the ""s) and place your .nds backup files/ROMs in the Games folder.

Kernal 1.24 wont load on my r4ds card

Don't bother with Kernel v1.24 i use kernel v1.18 downlad from http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4ds.html and click on the "R4 V1.18 kernel (English/French/Korean)" un compress with Winrar and put on SD/TF card (delete any previous kernels you may have.

Will also need the "Moonshell 1.71 for R4" on same page as kernel v1.18 just scroll down a little lower.

Get a free account on romulation.net and download whatever games you want

Happy playing.
