I think some component inside is getting heated so to avoid damage for the safety purpose it is turning off ..
the component which may be getting over heated are transformer, capacitor etc ..
so i suggest you to have a check with these components and if required then replace them ..
thank you
The timer/standby indicator blinks for
about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is
wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components
on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also unit be in
IK
blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
~KEEPS US UPDATED.
WHEN THE TIMER LED IS LIT, IT INDICATES ONE OF THE TIMERS IS SET. IF A TIMER IS SET, IT WILL REMAIN LIT EVEN IF THE TELEVISION IS TURNED OFF.
THE STANDBY LED BLINKS WHEN THE TELEVISION IS TURNED ON, THEN SHUTS OFF WHEN THE PICTURE IS DISPLAYED.
AFTER TURNING ON THE TELEVISION, IF THE STANDBY LED CONTINUES TO FLASH, AND THERE IS A POOR PICTURE, OR NO PICTURE AND SOUND, VERIFY THAT THE ANTENNA OR CABLE IS PLUGGED INTO VHF/UHF INPUT ON THE BACK OF THE TV.
IF THE STANDBY LED CONTINUES TO FLASH FOR LONGER THAN (10) SEC. AND THERE IS A POOR PICTURE, OR NO PICTURE AND SOUND, UNPLUG THE POWER FROM THE WALL FOR (1) MINUTE, THE RECONNECT THE POWER CORD.
IF THE PREVIOUS STEPS DO NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, SERVICE MAYBE REQUIRED.
--- YOU CAN RESET THE TELEVISION BY HOLDING THE RESET BUTTON ON YOUR REMOTE CONTROL WHILE PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TELEVISION. THIS WILL POWER OFF AND THEN POWER ON THE TV.

4 times, Diagnosis: Vertical deflection stopped. Possible causes: +- 15V is not supplied. (D board), IC8003 is faulty. (A board) Symptoms of the problem: TV has entered standby state after horizontal raster, Vertical deflection pulse is stopped, Power line is shorted or power supply is stopped.you need to replace the board ...
Good luck...
Try unplugging it and leave it unpluuged FOR 36 HOURS. If this will not work have it check on a license tech, check for the blown or dead capacitors or transistor on the power board.
Hi,
Often blinking lights would indicate that the unit is engaged in protective mode so as to prevent further damage. The built-in diagnostics of the TV senses a fault. Additionally, the click you are hearing would be the power relay in the PSU (power supply unit trying to engage but would turn off immediately after.
In some instances, it could just be a cold solder or loose connection. Considering the age of the unit, it may be parts that has deteriorated or heat related faults such as dried up capacitors.
I am assuming that this is not a projection TV being a 27 incher. Pls post back the exact model number, it would be something like KV27AEB that we may be able to provide better assistance.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
The key here is the number of blinks. The standby light should blink a count followed by a few second pause with the count repeating. That count coupled with the model number will giveme enough information to provide you with a solution. Can you uipdate this with that info please?
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks for the update. Normally the 4 blink code is an indication of a vertical deflection problem. If you watch the set closely, you may see a single horizontal line across the center of the tube flash just before the 4 blink code appears. If you can solder, you should be able to resolve this yourself. Look for a small flat IC attached to a heat sink with about 9-11 pins. It shold be marked LA7837 or something similar. That is the vertical IC. Try resoldering the pins on this IC first. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace the IC. Please note that there may be some capacitors in the same circuit that need to be replaced as well. Replacing the IC should get you a picture at least. Once you get there, update this with the results and further instructions can be provided as required.
Good luck,
Dan

My 27inch Sony Trinitron TV won't turn on. A red flashing light has appeared on the control panel and now it won't turn on. The TV model No. is KV-27V40, Serial No. A803801 and was manufactured August 1998. The red light flashes 4 times and then stops, waits a few seconds and flashes 4 times again. The red light says Timer, Standby next to it. I have tried unplugging the TV in an attempt to clear the fault but this has no effect. Any ideas?
The exact model number of the TV is KV-27V40.
I have had to switch TVs at this point as I couldn't get the flashing light to stop blinking as it seems stuck in standby mode.
