I have the same connection problem. I have returned more than one router from lynksys. Who is there compitition? I hate the fact that their units work less than half the time and that if you return it to Lynksys the warrenty does not renew with the new unit they send, Jackasses. Return it to where you purchased from. this way Lynksys will have to do something different!

Make sure the wireless network key is configured on your wireless settings on your computer. If you don't know the network key, you can simply reset the router. Just push the reset button at the back of the computer for 10 seconds then unplug the power for 20 seconds then plug it back in.

Is it a wireless computer ?
If it is wireless computer then make sure that it is connected to the wireless network .
If ti is connected not connected to the wireless network then you will need to connect to the wireless network.
If it shows it is connected then check the IP address on the computer.

How do you connect a printer to this?

Basically, if it is a wireless-ready printer, what you need is match the same wireless settings that you have from your router.

On most wireless-ready printer, you need them to connect temporarily to your computer through USB connection then run the Setup CD. You will then have the option to configure the wireless settings (the same that you have on your router), then install the printer driver afterwards. You'll be prompted when to unhook the printer from your computer to make it wireless.

Wireless light is on but when I bring in my laptop it doesn't find my network. Just quit working. ??

Turn the router off, and unplug the AC power.
Turn the router on, and wait until the lamps show that it's fully ready.

Be sure that you have _not_ disabled your laptop's wireless networking.
On your laptop, click to "view available networks".
Does the router's "SSID" show up in the output?

Connect an Ethernet cable between the Ethernet-port on the router and the Ethernet-adapter on your laptop.

Click Start
Click Run
Type 'cmd' and press ENTER.
In the "black" window, enter 'IPCONFIG'.
Find the line showing the IP-address of the "Gateway", probably something like '192.168.xxx.yyy'.
Start your web-browser, and enter: http://192.168.xxx.yyy
to connect to the router's web-interface.
Click to run the "Wireless Network Setup Wizard".
The router should restart.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable.
Repeat the "Show available wireless networks".

Or, try some other wireless-ready laptop or wireless-ready iPod Touch, to see if these devices can "see" your router's SSID.

Acer one and netgear WNDR3300 router

Make certain tha you have your firewall setting allowing the wireless card to connect. When you type your password in make certain that your caps lock is not turn on. Finally if your computer can only run wireless B, you have to tell your to broad wireless B and G, or do a protection mode, where older wireless device will connect.

No connection through smartwizard

Hi

After reading your concern i think you have to manually configure your router, have you tried that? if not i suggest you to try that.

the steps mention below will help you to configure the router manually :

first check is your internet is working when you connect your computer wired with your modem given by your internet service provider, if yes, lets move on to the second step, connect your router and their should be four lights on the router

A. POWER : looks like a circle and a line in it.
B. WIRELESS : looks like a radio sending signals
C. INTERNET : looks like i with a circle underneath it
D. and number light : that shows one of your computer is connected with a wire to the router.

once its done now open the internet explorer on your wired computer
type in 192.168.1.1or you can type http://routerlogin.com
, it will prompt you for user name and password, the user name will be 'admin' and password will be 'password', make sure you type it in small case
On the left hand side their is blue coloum, their you need to click on SETUP WIZARD the very first option,
It says the router can autodetect the internet connection, their select YES and click on NEXT option and it shows the screen below :

0302be4.gif
a. does your internet cinnection require login, Seclect NO
b. make sure you check all the options that i have circled in above screen shot and click on apply it comes with the same page again
c. now click on ROUTER STATUS under the Heading called maintainence and check do you have any ip address under the internet port if YES then you have your wired connection working now, check that by opening another internet explorer, if its still not working

Then upgrade teh firmware from the link mention below :

http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1222

above mention is the master link for all WPN824v2 routers select the version and upgrade the firmware, and steps are mention on the same link as well.

Once its done follow the same steps to make you wired connection working. Once its done, Lets move on to the wireless connection

a. click on the wireless settings under the heading of setup

check out another screen shot below :

9f229af.gif
a. Change Name SSID : name of your network that you want to have
b. CHANNEL : Change to 11 and if uts 11 change it to 06
c. Mode : change to G&b
d. Sceurity : Select WEP
e. Key1 ; type any 10 digit number or you can type 1020304050, as mention above as the password for your wireless network

Till now we have set up the wired connection and wireless connection on router and now lets connect your wireless computer with it

you will able to see your wireless network name on your computer, simply select it and it will prompt you for password that will be your 10 digit number you punch in Key1

connect with it and you are ready to go with your wired and wireless connection

I hope above mention will resolve your concern.....

Thanks
Harmeet :)

No connectivity to 2nd desktop or laptop - although worked before

Hello....sudden loss of wireless on two computers, in the same home, may indicate that a powerful source of wireless interference has just arrived (since your wireless router light is still on).

1) Does the signal improve if you move the router, or move the laptop closer to the router?
2) Have you had any success with changing the channel on your router? (Login to router > select Wireless Settings > Channel)

If you have not moved furniture yourself, or installed a device which could interfere with the signal (eg a DECT phone), it's possible a neighbour's new router may be the culprit.

Please come back to Fixya if this does not help.

My linksys router worked fine for a long time, with three computers hooked in wireless and one by cable. Now, only the cable works. It keeps saying that a cable is not connected, but has said that forever...

GO TO THE CONTROL PANEL AND CLICK NETWORK CONNECTIONS IN EACH OF THE WIRELESS COMPUTERS. SELECT PROPERTIES AND PUT A CHECK MARK IN THE SQUARE THAT SAYS SHOW ICON ON DESKTOP WHEN CONNECTED. IF THE WIRELESS CONNECTION IS NOT SHOWN YOU HAVE A COMPONET ISSUE. FIRST RIGHT CLICK THE WIRELESS ICON AND CLICK REPAIR. IF THAT DOES NOT WORK THEN TURN OFF YOUR BROADBAND MODEM AND YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER. THEN TURN ON YOUR BROADBAND ROUTER AND WAIT FOR ALL THE NORMAL LIGHTS TO COME ON AND THEN TURN ON YOUR WIRELESS ROUTER AND WHEN YOUR LIGHTS ON THAT QUIT BLINKING YOU SHOULD BE BACK IN ACTION.

Linksys WRT54GS not working

  1. First you may need to check if the WLAN or Wireless light on the router is on.
  2. Try connecting your ITouch to a different wireless network.
  3. If you can borrow a wireless ready laptop from a friend, then borrow one.
  4. Check if the laptop will be able to detect a wireless signal from router.
Please update me about this matter.
