ITunes Install Problems

Trying to install iTunes, but I'm having problems, I keep getting this message –

"iTunes could not be installed because Visual Basic Script (VBScript) is not installed or has been disabled. Make sure VBScript is installed, turn off script blocking in anti-virus and personal firewall software, reregister VBScript, and then install iTunes."

How do I do all of the things it asks me to do…..

Hi, are you using Windows Vista? If so, go to the Start Menu, click All Programs, then Accessories, then right click on Command Prompt and select Run As Administrator.

In the box that appears, type: CD c:\windows\system32\ and then press enter.
Then type: regsvr32 vbscript.dll and press enter, then click OK.

Close the command prompt and try reinstalling itunes.

Hope this helps.

I have a new dell laptop with vista and cannot install itunes - it freezes and comes up with an error message.

What does the error message say? Post the exact contents here.

Just in case, check to see if your computer is 32-bit or 64-bit by going to computer properties. Make sure you got the correct version of iTunes for your computer.

Check this Apple support page for more information.

When trying to download itunes keep getting a report that says ''windows installer encountered errors and can not configure itunes.'' I am using a 64 bit PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. Thanks.

It means that the installer you downloaded is not compatible with the version of Windows you're trying to install it to. Make sure to visit iTunes.com and select the right installer for it to work.

ITunes won't start. message says itunes library created with a newer version of itunes.

Just upgrade to the newer version of the firmware. If you have other problems they can be solved, but it that is the only message you are getting just install the latest version of itunes. You may have to un authorise the account from that computer if you are over the alloted 5 machine threshold. There is also a one time reset in the itunes menu, but remove it from either it's own installer "in the progrem" or from the control "add/remove" programs first. If you hav issues at that point come back and exlain the message yu got and I will walk you through what to do

When i try to open iTunes a message pops up saying " the iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-50)

The only options for this error are for solving the problem of iTunes not opening, which are listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717

I suggest trying to re-install iTunes first, then go through the solutions on that page. Print off the page before you start trying to fix it, and include all sections (check in print preview).

To install either a device or some SW in Windows you must follow the procedure as is given in the link below: Installing Devices on PCs and Laptops Please follow it verbatim and you will be able to install the iTunes on your WIndows PC. Itunes drivers for importing and burning CDs/DVDs missing where can i get them? Bill

It seems that some users installing iTunes 8 on Windows systems are encountering an error message:

“ERROR: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing… Please re-install iTunes”

iTunes uses GEAR software drivers for importing and burning CD’s & DVD’s. Re-installing (or installing the latest GEAR drivers seems to fix this problem. No reboot required for this install.

You can get the current GEAR drivers here: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm

If this does not fix your problem download a fresh installer for iTunes here: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Uninstall iTunes, reboot, & then do a fresh install of iTunes.

Hope This Help You

QuickTime Troubleshoot

I am having a 'problem' installing iTunes v8 - the install seems to go ok until I get to the part of the program which invokes the Quicktime software upload (v7.5).
Although I don't get a 'controlled' Error message, I am advised that
"A newer version of Quicktime is installed on your computer - Quicktime needs to close" a message then appears telling me that iTunes install has failed as "iTunes needs QuickTime" - no **** sherlock!!
Try as I might I am unable to get past this problem - can anyone out there advise me ?

I have uninstalled until I am blue in the face using all teh standard solutions i.e Regedit, MSConfig, removed Temp Files in Docs & Settings etc etc. To my mind there is still part of the system that has nested a piece of Quicktime code that is screwing up the install.

This is doing my head in and I have 2 iPods that requirev v8 that I cannot use!!
