I have the same problem, before when i remove and reinsert the battery it would stop...now its more persistent and it acted up right after the warranty period. Someone who had the same kind of machine told me its the beginning of trouble and it will start going off on its on etc etc....if this is a malfuction of the model what options does one have to have HP sort it?

Hey

i had this same problem with my hp 530
i dont know if this is what you are meant to do but if u turn off the laptop and take the battery out and put it back in again the problem should stop

it may happen again a few weeks afterwards but just do the same thing

I have now come across two identical c500 presarios owned by different people with exactly the same flash amber light problem. Taking the motherboard battery out to reset the cmos failed to fix them. Also a search on the internet came across many other people with this. Unfortunately it seems like a component fault somewhere in the power supply circuit. When I get some time over xmas I'll try to trace it. Untill then I recommend to people "dont by compaq they are cheap ****", just my oppinion.

Why is my samsung flat screen monitor black when turn on

Most likely culprit is a defect in the the power module (inside the monitor). Most failures are because of bad electrolytic capacitors.

Do a search using Google and type into the box (the Great Capacitor Plague). Read all about it.

Compac d-530 won't start red light under power button flashing

Take out the battery and only hook up the AC Adapter. Try turning on your laptop and if you still only get a flashing power button then try another AC Adapter. If the same thing happens then that means the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

Why is my hp pavilion 523w not working it just makes enough power to make a green light flash

The Green LED light you see flashing indicates you have a bad Power Supply.

Computer unplugged from power, computer on a table, computer case open, observe Anti-Static Precautions.
Clean the inside of the computer out with a can of compressed air for computers, (Or may take two, and a few Q-tips), and replace the Power Supply.

The Power Supply is an ATX form factor. The ATX style of Power Supply is found in over 80 percent of personal computers out there, and is readily available everywhere.

It's a 250 to 300 Watt power supply.
Probably made by Bestec, HiPro, or Delta, or some other generic power supply manufacturer of low quality power supply's.

Has a 20-pin ATX main power cable, and a 4-pin ATX +12 volt power cable.
Plus the usual amount of 4-pin Peripheral power cables, and a Floppy Disk power cable.

Hp 530 laptop = dead no lights/nothing...power supply reads 19.2 volts with meter.son spilled drink on keyboard..suggestions?

Remove battery and power. Take apart as much as possible. wash any wet/sticky parts in de-ionised water (as used for topping up batteries), allow to thoroughly dry before re-assembling and powering up. Leave at least 24 hrs to dry.

Try not to get circuit board too wet, but if it does not work then you have nothing to lose!

Liquid on keyboard can be very difficult to fix as damp gets under the membrane - even if computer works the keyboard may not but you could always use USB keyboard.
If you have any Silica Gel packets, put notebook and all parts in a plastic bag with them to absorb all moisture (but make sure no powder gets into the components).

Good luck!

Hav a pavilion a510n HP , the cpu will not start up, there is a green light on the back of the cpu flashing when it has power but when pushing the start button it will not start, monitor has power but...

I had a similar problem. Moved a 4-year-old desktop. Got the flashing light and no start. Quick fix is to unplug unit, open up case and unplug the large power connector on the motherboard. (On mine this is marked P1 and has a lock tab on one side that must be held in while unplugging.) Plug the 110-volt power and THEN plug the connector back into the motherboard. Button the case back up and all will be well until the next time you shut the power off to the computer.

The cause of this problem is likely that the battery on the motherboard is nearly dead. The flashing light is a warning to replace the battery. (It would have been nice if they would have put this into the user manual.) When you disconnect the power as described above, you interrupt the low-battery circuit. Replace the battery and all should be well.

1)try to check also if you'll see a solid GREEN LED light on your ac adapter.if yes, possible problem could be on the battery port or the battery itself

2)With regard to the battery meter, where did you find that?If not in the BIOS,try this.restart computer and press F2 several times .Once you're inside the BIOS.try to go to the battery option-try to see if the battery indicator would say 100% also.

3)if 100%,try another battery if you have one.use only the battery as the only source of power..if a known good battery works then the problem is with your old battery.if a known good battery won't work, that would mean that you have a problem with your battery port.if that is the case, you may have to replace your motherboard for that but if you still have an active hardware warranty on your pavillion dv 4000.try calling the manufacturer for a motherboard replacement and try asking also if your battery is part of any recall.

4)if the battery meter in the BIOS does not say 100%, try charging the battery for an hour then go back to the BIOS try to see if the battery meter would go up.if it increases the battery meter try using the battery as the only source of power...if nogo,go back procedure 3.
