On my WIN XP system I have successfully been using an HP Deskjet 6122 wirelessly on the parallel port. My settings are port=IP_192.168.0.10, ip=192.168.0.10, LPR, Queue=IP_192.168.0.10-P. Now I need to add a new USB printer - HP Officejet 5610 that works fine as a local printer on my WIN XP system. I can't get it to print through the print server. The best I get on watching the queue is that it gets to the server "spooling" then disappears. Never does print. My setting are port=IP192.168.0.10-U1, ip-192.168.0.10, RAW. I've tried setting to LPR but get a error because of using the same IP address.
Any ideas? Dlink support gives me the same instructions as on their web site which is how I got as far as I have.

HP LaserJet 1022 is a "host-based" printer so it must be connected to a PC. Load the driver on PC first and connect the USB cable when software tells you to do so.
Will not work on a Linksys print server.
LaserJet 1022N & LaserJet 1022NW have "special" HP print servers that can support HP host based printers.
"Add a printer" in "My Computer"/"Printers" or "Control Panel"/"Printers". The 6122 will print from the HP 920, 930, 932, 940 & 950 drivers also - (which are included with many Windows systems). If you chose the 970 driver it will want a second sheet of paper to print a test page, which you can ignore and it will stop trying. All drivers seem to be the same print quality in my systems. I do not use the 970 or 6122 driver at all so I don't have an ink level monitor or any possible related potential glitch.
Try a different driver. "Add a printer" in "My Computer"/"Printers" or "Control Panel"/"Printers". The 6122 will print from the HP 920, 930, 932, 940 & 950 drivers also - (which are included with your Windows XP and Vista systems). All these drivers seem to be the same print quality in my systems.
As for the router, if it is already set up and working, you won't need to do anything on it as it will work as before. You probably will need to set your HP computer to obtain an automatic IP address from Network Preferences and plug the Ethernet cable in to get the IP from the router. Even if it's not set up, you can set it up and it will work with no problem with the new system.

I wet and slap stubborn old ink cartridges to un-stick dry jets. sometimes I use a small clear silicone tube to suck a bit of ink to get them started as the jet holes need priming sometimes if they are old.

Print the Menu Setting out on printer and menu setting out on pc. Match sure emulation matcheds on both sides. If using serial make sure serial settings match on both sides. If parallel, check the bois on the PC, change parallel port type to EPP instead of ECP or SPP.
