Question about RCA Lyra RD2780 Digital Media Player

1 Answer

USB Safemode Unit displays USB safe mode and won't run. Still works as a hard drive, but not as a player. I understand that there is a part(a capacitor or something like that) that needs replacing.

You are right. There is a part (SMT transistor) that needs to be replaced.

I saw a couple of years ago a seller in ebay from UK that sold the part and instructions to repair it. You can try this option.

Other one is that you send your media player to be fixed. If after check this option with local repair centers, and after evaluate why is so expensive such repair, you can contact the Ebay seller Great_items_2004 for a lower diagnostics/repair fee.

Best regards,

Screen showing setup is starting services and want do anything else

When your computer won't boot past the title screen or start-up screen, it usually means you have software problems or a virus.
Almost all Acer computers come preinstalled with a Windows operating system, which allows you to troubleshoot the operating system before locking up during the start-up screen.
Whether your problem is hardware or software-related, this technique allows you to access your desktop to retrieve all the items you want from your hard drive before completely reinstalling your operating system.

Click the power button. Within the first 10 seconds, a BIOS keystroke should pop up.
The keystroke to access the BIOS is usually the "ESC"+"SHIFT" keys.
"F8" is also an option for getting to the BIOS.
After keying the keystrokes, the BIOS screen is displayed.
Navigate through the BIOS system, which is the first system that your computer accesses.
The BIOS contains several commands and options to scroll through to modify various ways to start up your computer or reinstall the entire system.
It contains the booting options of your computer.

Navigate to the desired option with the arrow keys and select "Start in Safe Mode."
Safe mode is an operation your computer can run in which it doesn't use full capacity of your computer's hardware or software, but allows you to navigate to your computer's desktop and hard drive, regardless of an existing virus.
Restart your computer in Safe Mode and wait for it to boot.
After navigating to your desktop, begin dragging and dropping any information you want to save onto an external hard drive or USB thumb drive before the virus corrupts the files.

Tip

Sony PS3 Hard Drive Corrupted or Asking for Restore

A Hard Drive error can be a common problem on the PS3 and this tip will outline how you can troubleshoot and hopefully resolve a hard drive problem. If your PS3 is showing signs that the hard drive is corrupted or is displaying a message asking you to restore the hard drive follow these steps carefully and you may well avoid an expensive repair or having to consign your hard drive to the bin.

Please note: Steps 8 and 9 involve erasing data from your Hard Drive. Therefore if at all possible please try to back up your data before commencing this procedure. You can do this through 'System Settings - Backup Utility' Follow the instructions given in this menu to back up information to an external storage device such as a USB Pen.

To begin the process of troubleshooting and resolving your Hard Drive error you must first put the unit into Safe Mode. Follow these steps carefully;

1) Turn off the PS3 by holding the power button on the front of the unit till it turns red.

2) Hold the power button until you hear the unit beep three times. This will take 15 to 20 seconds.

3) The unit will power off on the third beep and power light will turn red again.

4) Touch and hold the power button again as in step 2. The unit will beep three times except this time the third beep will sound like a quick double beep. As soon as you hear this release the power button.

5) You will see a message onscreen telling you to "Connect a controller using USB and then press the PS button".

6) Do as the message says i.e. connect the controller and press the PS button - you are now in Safe Mode.

7) Restore File System. From this point select "Restore File System" on the menu. The PS3 will attempt to repair damaged files on the hard drive. If this does not work move to step 8.

8) Rebuild Database. Enter Safe mode again as outlined and this time select "Rebuild Database". Be aware this mode will erase certain information from your hard drive which is not recoverable such as photo and message information. If this fails move to step 9.

9) Restore PS3 System. Again enter Safe Mode and select "Restore PS3 System". This will restore all defaults and completely formats the drive. Be aware this mode will erase all information from the hard drive.

If everyone of these steps fail and the PS3 is still showing symptoms of hard drive error you can be certain that the hard drive has failed and it will need to be replaced. However in a majority of cases these steps will resolve the issue.

My computer will not connect to the internet or any other apps even in safemode.

That is normal, Safe Mode disables all drivers so most hardware and software won't run.
However, it is not normal to start into Safe Mode as it is only used for troubleshooting problems.
Restart the computer and it should default to booting in "Normal" mode which will get things working again. If the computer will not boot normally then have it looked at by a professional.

Good luck!

My hard drive got unplugged without being stopped and now keeps running into read errors

Hopefully, the read errors are not from physical damage.
These are the steps that you need to take, and the instructions on how to do it:
1. Reboot into Safemode
2. Run a virus and spyware scanner
3. Defrag
4. Scandisk
5. Registry error repairing
6.Reboot into regular mode windows

Here is how to do it:
Reboot yor machine while holding the F8 key right as it boots back up. A menu will apear. Choose -->"start windows in safe mode with networking".
Windows will start in safe mode. Run an AVG virus scan, then run Defrag by exploring your computer, right click on C: drive, click PROPERTIES, then the TOOLS tab, click the "check now" button, and both checkboxes, both 'fix file system errors', and "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" then click ok, the computer will then tell you it will scan upon next reboot (which upon reboot will take about an hour). Now click the DEFRAG NOW button. then choose defrag. After Defrag runs for about an hour and it is finished, restart the system. If is still won't run normally, go back into Safemode buy pressing F8 on reboot, then run a registry fixing program such as uniblue registrybooster, then reboot again. If it still won't run right, you may want to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows and see if that works. If reinstalling windows doesn't fix it, it is definitely a hardware problem.
PRINT THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND KEEP A COPY NEAR YOUR SYSTEM FOR FUTURE PROBLEMS. THIS SERIES OF STEPS CAN FIX MANY PROBLEMS
Good luck.
James.

Trying to restore the system go into safemode and install antivirus software.

If you need to get into safe mode just hit F8 as soon as you power it on. Depending on how annoying it wants to be you may just about have to hold F8 down until you get the boot menu. Then select safe mode from the option (at the top). You will need to have all the software available on a usb device as you won't have anything but usb or the built in hard drive to access ie no net or cd/dvd.

Hi, I got a free HP compaq desktop, the small ones, is 2.66hz it was working fine, but i don't have the password for the administrator in a xp pro, so I just reinstall a new copy of XP but now this...

please load xp again and press f 6 when you see it on the screen to load sata devices .
sata softwares and drivers are required in certain computers to load windows so while loading you will be asked to load those drivers through a floppydrive, so u must have
1)sata raid drivers (according to the hard ware installed in hp.)this piece of hard ware will not allow xp to boot if you dont give its drivers through a floppy drive(during installation and setup of windows.
so u must now have
1 floppy drive(usb)
2 a floppy disk with sata drivers
3)usb port to attach the usb floppy drive
after loading xp you will see xp running trouble free.
a easy solution is to load vists and the drivers are already there in vista cd.

How to get into safemode with ibm t26 thinkpad

To get into safemode on a windows operating system then you must press F8 at startup. Keep tapping the F8 key and you should get a menu that says Start windows in safe mode and some other options. Choose safe mode and your there.

Sometimes a computer may have a boot menu set to F8 and you will be asked to load from the CD drive or hard driver. If thats the case then select the hard drive and then tap F8 again until the menu at the top appears.
