Question about Clarion DXZ755MC CD Player

1 Answer

No volume I installed this unit on a 1990 300zx TT. It's original head unit quit. A Bose label Clarion. Bought all necessary harness conversions for easy install. Everything went well but I can't get any sound out of it. I hooked up the old unit and the speakers worked, hooked up the new one no sound. I've reset it a couple of times no luck. Am I overlooking something? Perhaps a compatibility problem with the "active speakers"? Can this be over ridden? Thank you. Sincerely, Jose F. Andrade

The Bose system in the Z is wired to control the entire car's speakers. Each speaker has its own amplifier, and the OEM head unit puts out a line-level signal to each amp. Your Clarion unit puts out speaker-level signal (in effect, an amplified signal), into the Bose amps, and it's probably overdriving them and putting them into shutdown.

Your best bet is to replace the Bose speakers with aftermarket speakers meant for a speaker-level drive (which is what I did in my Z, and never once regretted it). If you do so, you'll need to run new wires to the speakers, or if you use the OEM wiring, you'll need to unplug the amps and run the wires from the amp harnesses directly to the new speakers. I think there is an adapter harness you can use that will tap into the line-out jacks on your Clarion, so that a line-level signal can be sent to the Bose speakers - I'd do a google search for "Metra harness 300zx" or something along those lines (Metra makes the lineout harness adapters - I use one in my Audi).

You are most likely going to need to retrieve that from the Clarion manufacturer. Cost is usually 35-50 US Dollars.

I bought a used car with the clarion drb4275 aftermarket head unit/radio in the car and i do not know how to control the volume. thanks alot, hope to hear back from you.

On the left side of the face is a button with four arrows on it. The volume is controlled by the arrows that point up and down. The arrow pointing up raises the volume and the arrow pointing down lowers the volume.

Thanks for the response, but this didnt work. Any other suggestions?? I need to adjust the volume control to a lower setting. The way it is now is too loud on setting 1 to hold a conversation in the car....

Bose systems were not created with aftermarket head units in mind. Normally people perform a Bose-ectomy on those systems, removing ALL Bose components meaning Speakers too. Personally I prefer Pioneer, JBL, or Alpine speakers.

Hi i'm attempting to replace original audio unit with generic audio system, but unable to get sound from they require a special processor that may be intergrated in the original head...

If you don't have the quick connect wiring harness that you can get pretty much anywhere that the units are sold, get one. Then you have to make sure that your wiring is correct, speaker wires are always labeled by color and then name in a manual.

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.
If you've found a solution, please post it here.

Volume issues with clarion M309 installed on a boat

Hello jcox7704,

Your head unit is 50 watts X 4 channel maximum power and 21 watts RMS so it's possible that all you need is more power to the speakers. But even 21 watts RMS should be enough for normal speakers. Before investing in an amp, I'd check the speakers and their wiring. Measure the impedance (resistance) at the head unit side to see if they match up.

Hope this helps.

Installation of new cd player in 2002 VR-X Lancer

There are aftermarket wireharnesses available. I suggest the $15-25 purchase. The wires usually match color for color to the aftermarket stereo saving a major head ache if attempting to figure out the factory harness. These adaptors are available at many audo part stores and local installation shops. To check the harness you need, Metra, on of the main aftermarket wire harness manufacturers has an application chart on line, see or a search for American International or Scosche.

I need to install a max385vd in a 2002 pord f-350, do i need an install kit?

Regardless of whether this is an amp or a head unit, an install kit is either very helpful or necessary. If it's an amp, you'll need it for sure - you can't power an amp with 18 gauge factory power wiring like a head unit can use. You need to get at least 10 gauge power and ground wire, 18 gauge remote turn-on wire, and RCA patch cables to conduct the sound. If you have a factory head unit, you'll also need a line-level adapter to give you a source for the RCA patch cables.

If this is a head unit, you'll need the adapter harness to plug your existing stereo harnesses into the new head unit. It makes it simple - the wires on the new head unit are color-coded for what they do, and the adapter harness is identically coded. Match the colors, then plug it in. You may also need an antenna wire adapter (some cars require this).
