Click the START tree, go to accessories, entertainment, volume control make sure your not muted.
And as for your games, make sure you are not trying to load a game that is a DVD and you only have a C-D rom. A lot of the newer games are on DVD's now because of all the graphics C-D's are just not capable of all that data.

Do one thing Downlaod a Hiren's Bootable CD from the net(it is Free to download). Hiren bootable Cd is a ISO file which you need to burn in CD after downlaoding. After you finish download boot your computer through CD( you need to select First bootable as CD/DVD from BIOS or from Boot Menu). After you boot from Hiren's CD there is a option called "load MINI XP" so you select it and you'll find a WIN XP in your screen which is running through the CD. Now select the Drive or Folder where ever your DATA are store and take back in any external Drive.
Remember you can retrieve your data if your window is not booting.

My system im not geting the sound

If you already have installed your sound driver (which can be found in the CD bundled up with your PC) then try clicking the audio icon that's located in your taskbar. See if it isn't muted or adjust the volume of the speakers. If you cannot see it from your taskbar, click 'Start' menu and go to the control panel. Click on 'sounds, speech and audio devices' and click on the 'adjust the system volume'. If it still doesn't work, try using other audio devices/speakers.

Hi, could someone help me? I have this problem: I just upgraded from service pack 2 to 3 on windows ex pro., and now this computer wont detect cds on the drive. This means Im unable to install any programs...

Does the Device Mgr list the Cd drive ? if yes...then there is an issue with the SP3 not alloting a proper IRQ to the HW CD drive, is there any issue with the Drive in the Device Manager properties window ?
else
revert back to SP2 after doing a low-level full format...re-install WinXP SP2....
download this from piratebay and try to install WinXP again....
there could be some files missing in you WinXPSP3 CD

http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4150301/MICROSOFT.WINDOWS.XP.SERVICE.PACK.3.v5.1.2600.5512.RTM.ENGLISH-W

this link will downlaod a small Torrent file....to use this u must have Bittorrent software...(downlaod it and install first) then open the small link file...Bittorrent will downlaod the full WinXPSP3 to you PC

I've lost my logitech skylink wireless Lan broadband router install cd. is there anywhere i can download it?

you can configure your router by typing its ip add in the ie. just goto the command prompt and type IPCONFIG and it shows like this...

ip address....................192.168.1.100
subnet mask................255.255.255.0
default gateway............192.168.1.254

*just type the default gateway in the internet explorer and supply the username and password. and you can now configure your wireless router.

Sound Card Not installed?

hi,
things you can check over here.
1. reinstall the audio drivers from the resource cd. in case that does not work ,download the drivers from
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen
just punch in your service tag and select the sound card installed and download the driver
2. reset the bios. that causes issues after reinstallations.
you can do that by following the steps below.
press f2 key on the dell logo screen.
press num lock, caps lock and scroll lok on keyboard so that all three are on. press alt + e together followed by alt + f.
press esc twice and select save changes and exit and your system would restart.
hope that works and fixes the problem.
