First you will need a wireless router, and if you laptop doesn't have a wireless card built in you will need one of those as well. I would write the info about your laptop ie: name, model, OS and go to a local store (Best Buy, Office Max, ect) I would suggest a Linksys Wireless Router and card, they are about the easiest to set up and work very well with most machines and have a great range along with a secure Wep incription to keep your privicy safe.

If this is not what you had in mind, and was looking more for on the go use, contact your local cellular phone company and ask about a Wi Fi card.

Why my wireless laptop is not working

You have to do a few steps to check the problem :
1.Check if the wireless switch is on, on your laptop.
2. If it is on then check if the network adaptors are installed or not. You can check that by going into device manager ( start - run - devmgmt.msc). If it is not installed you will find a exclamation mark or simply go to your manufacturers website and update your wireless driver.
3.Then go to Start\Connect To\Show All Network Connections (or, if this doesn't show up on your computer, Start\Control Panel\Network And Internet Connections\Network Connections). For your wireless card, remove it from the bridge (right click on the wireless network and enable it if it is disabled and then if you have a option remove it from bridge click on that.)
4.Restart your wireless zero configration. Go to control panel/Administrative tools/Services, right-clicking on the "Wireless Zero Configuration", and telling it to stop. After it stops, right-click on it again, and tell it to start, and then wait a minute or so and see what happens.
then try to connect and see if you can for this go to the network and sharing center search for all the wireless networks and try to connect. I think this should do it for you. If not reply with the message or error you get.

My wifi icon has disappered on my toolbar and wont connect. was okay then i left it and internet connection is gone.

Hi there

It's important to see if you still have a wireless connection... start finding out in a couple of ways.

Go into Control Panel, Network connections, you should see the Wireless Connection listed.
Then check the status, it may be disabled. If so, right click it and select "Enable".

Also check if the wireless indicators on the laptop show it's on. There may be a switch on the laptop which turns on the wireless card.

Lastly, check if there's a problem with the wireless card:
In Control Panel, select Performance and Maintenance, then System. Select the "Hardware" tab, then open Device Manager. If there's a problem with the wireless card there will be an exclamation mark by it. If so you may need to reinstall the wireless card.

If you want more help please tell me the make and model of the laptop.

You need to save your wireless connection so that it starts automaticly when you turn your laptop back on. On your system tray goto the double computer screen icon and click it, then click 'connect to a network' then click 'setup an internet connection' and then click 'connect to the internet' and follow the wizard.

Is it possible to start the wireless automatically (without having to type fn f1) on a FS amilo laptop ?

Normally, if you shut down your laptop with the wireless connection selected, it should automatically enable when you login. It would also be a good idea to set your wireless connection as your default connection in my network places.
