Be sure that after lighting the Pilot, that you turn the gas control knob to ON. Just lighting the pilot will not turn the burners ON. Once the control knob is turned to ON, you can turn the burners ON.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

My vulcan gas oven has gas comkng out in the oven as soon as switch is turned it does not need to be pressed in like the stoves is this right ?

That is not normal. The gas pilots need to stay burning, need pilot flame sensors too for the main gas valve in the oven to work. Who knows how the oven is set up that it all seems wrong now.
If there were a electric gas valve, the valve would be on fire and/ or seismic shut off. If fans were interlocked, it would be on fire cut off along with fire dampers.
Why would anyone control a gas valve cut off with exhaust fans? Goofy set up unless there is more to it. For now I would keep the gas on, independently from the exhaust fans, keep pilots lit and a pilot light flame sensor for oven gas valve/thermostat safety control.
Keep your oven Fromm filling with gas and suddenly igniting accidently before anyone gets hurt or there is property damage.

I've got a Paragon P9 BF gas fire and it stopped lighting a couple of month ago. I've had 3 major parts replaced and now the pilot light ignites but the fire itself won't light. I've paid £150 so far and...

I would check all connections are clean and tight and the earth as the inspector said . As I see it you are not getting a signal from the box to the gas valve to open So maybe the box or the power unit in the gas valve is letting pilot gas through and not main gas .

For (fire) safety, there is usually a thermostat that will turn off the gas if pilot light goes out.

So when you try to light the pilot you will have keep press & hold the pilot gas supply for at least 10 sec until the thermostat is heated up. Then only when the pilot light stays on continually, can you turn on the burner.

Forget about changing to a High pressure regulator!

The pilot light is out on my valor gas fire place. When I go to light it the flame comes on but if you let the button up to turn on the burners it goes out.

Keep the pilot gas control pressed down for 30 seconds to a minute after it lights to allow the thermopile in the pilot light to heat up. If you are already doing this the thermopile needs replacing

Valor flamenco unigas 2 fire ignites but wont stay on, assume this thermocouple problem how is thermocouple replaced

Valor uses either a Thermocouple or Thermopile, depending on the unit. In some cases, it has both. And, yes, your assumption is probably correct. Some thermocouples are a part of the Pilot Assembly, which means you have to replace entire pilot assembly. If you check you Owners Manual in the Parts Breakdown section, it will indicate if it is or not and whether you need a Thermocouple or Thermopile or both.

If you're not familiar with repairing gas fireplaces, replacing the parts listed above, can be a little challenging. Especially if you don't have the proper tools. But, before you jump on this project, try cleaning the Pilot Orifice first. You can easily do this, using canned compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) by blowing out the pilot tip. And while you're at it, clean all around the pilot assembly with the canned air. If cleaning the pilot solved your problem, you're back in business. If it didn't you'll have to go the other route.

Hope this helps you solve the problem. Please be kind enough to rate my reply to you. Thanks!

Initial problem was that fire was taking long time to light, no spark being generated intermittently. Now Gas fire seems to be going off on its own when it has been on for a while. Fire is the hole in the...

First, have you changed the battery in the ignition system? If you haven't this could be causing your ignition problem. In addition, the Thermocouple may need to be replaced to solve the problem of the burner flames going of on their own. That's assuming the pilot light is also going out when the burners go out. It would also be wise to check the vent pipe to make sure it's not obstructed in any way. As this also, could cause the flames to go out. Because there is a Safety Overload Switch, that automatically shuts the burner off is there is a gas and heat buildup/backup in the firebox.

As far as replacing the Thermocouple is concerned, this unit uses the same type of stand-alone Thermocouple, as the older DESA Vent-free gas log sets and fireplaces used. It's held in place with a saddle strap mounting and is fairly easy to replace.

These fireplaces are made in the UK and therefore, are more complicated to install, diagnose a problem and then solve it, than those made in the U.S.

Hope this has helped get you headed in the right direction.
