Is it an upgrade of RAM? If so, remove the new RAM and test the default RAM if you still have the problem. If the problem is solved, just reseat the RAM or better yet, remove the old RAM then just put in the new RAM just to identify which causes the problem.

Hope this helps.

I see. Adding a RAM or changing it might affect your videocard since it shares with your memory module.

Try to re install your videocard driver. Go to device manager under control panel. Dropdown display adapter, uninstall the ATI or Nvidia driver in there, if you're with vista, do not put a check on delete the drivers. After Uninstall, click action on device manager, then scan for hardware changes. It should re install your display adapter. Then try to restart again.

If it fails, go to the support site, support.toshiba.com, update your display adapter.

    Hope this helps.

My screen has verticle lines and the colors are incorrect

Try your monitor on another computer (laptop or desktop), to see if the problem "follows' the monitor.

Try another monitor on your computer, to see if your computer's video-card is creating the problem.

Try a different "data" cable between your computer and your monitor, to ensure that all 3 "primary" colours are being transmitted.

Vertical aqua colored line on the screen of my laptop

the cells inside of the lcd itself are starting to go bad which is why your seeing lines on the screen. To fix the problem you'll need to replace the lcd.

In the meantime you can hook up an external monitor and use that so you don't have to deal with lines on a bad lcd screen.

Screen sizing

Your problem is that the correct video driver is not installed and therefore cannot use all the video RAM.(the XP version of the video driver won't work with Win98).
When you adjust to True color at a higher resolution it drops to a lower resolution because it has insufficent video RAM, but you will get a higher screen resolution at a 16 bit color because it requires less memory (video RAM).
Install the Win98 driver for the graphics card and then it can use the full video RAM at a higher screen resolution with 32 bit color.

Installing RAM

you might want to try and remove the ram that you just installed and check if the problem is still the same. If it is then it's not the ram that's causing the problem. But if the problem goes away when you remove the newly added ram then you probably have a busted RAM

you can get something called a wiring harness from Walmart (or any place that sells car audio equipment). you plug it into the factory connection that would normally go to the back of the radio, and it has the wires labeled and color coded with what goes where. most times all you would need to do is match up the colors from the harness to the new radio you're trying to install. it makes it really easy to install after market radios, which im assuming you're trying to do.
