Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Whirlpool washing machine, tub is disconnected

The tub completely came loose from the machine. It started with banging against the side and looking slightly crooked. I figured it was just something weird going on. Now the tub is completely disconnected. Can this be fixed? If so... does it have to be an actual washing machine repair person?

Drum is loose during Spin and Rinse cycle and banging against side of washer

If it is under warranty, call Whirlpool at 1-866-698-2538. If it is out of warranty, try running the washer with no clothes in it in spin cycle. If it runs fine empty, it may be that when you had clothes in it they were not balanced evenly in the tub. If it runs off balance when empty, then a spring may have broken or come off. Contact an appliance repairman.

The rear spider shaft has broken it can be repaired. but I'm not 100% on lg units a lot of newer washers have a complete tub unit now it's all sealed in would need to see the machine with the lid off.

When washer goes into spin cycle it starts to tub starts to bang against side walls and shortly after error out, with an error on electronic display. Kenmore Elite Oasis

either unit is unlevel or one of the tub supports has come disconnected .... these washers have a slanted top lid so you must put level at side of washer on front and both sides and check front to back with level at side cabine seam as your leveling point

I have a loud clunking noise after my maytag empties the water, it seems to be getting worse. The model is a centennial top loader. IT is getting to be annoying. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Check the springs or straps that are connected to the wash tub. They keep the tub centered in the machine; if one is broken loose the tub will bang against the sides of the machine.

Washing Machine Moves in Spin Cycle

There are 2 things you can do.
All washing machines have an off balance shut off, some are touchy, some let it run around the house. With wht machine empty, lean it towards you, on the 2 front feet, about 2 or 3 inches and let it drop. The self leveling feet in the rear must BOTH make good floor gontact and sometimes, just the weight of the machine will not adjust them. The other thing is, make sure the load is evenly distributed. Coats, blankets, small rugs etc. are very heavy when wet and they tend to throw all of the weight to one side.
There is no screw holding the yub in place. It hangs on the center post, where the agitator goes. There is however, what's called a snubber. It is a rubber device that looks like a flattened suction cup, that comes in contact with the tub. It helps keep the tub from jumping around too much.

Washing Machine Suspension Problem?

smirkin, the question here is if the basket is listing against the tub or the whole tub and basket is listing. If the basket is listing and banging around it could be the drive block has worn or broken. I will attach a photo of one. If the whole tub is listing it could be a spring that broke. You can remove the front panel of the washer by pressing in on the two clips on each side of the washer top, The front panel should drop and pull out. You can see if any of the suspension sprins broke. The drive block is located under the basket. The agitator and basket have to be removed to change it out. Take a look at the attachments...Catriver..post back
