Don't need a driver for these speakers. But, if you are getting no power to the speaker system, I suggest the following:
This just happened to me (2/17/12), same Altec Lansing ADA-745 speakers/subwoofer. The back of the subwoofer has a label which reads 'T1A-250V' type fuse. This means a 1-amp, 250V fuse. I found a 4-pack of these at Radio Shack for about $3.19. Important: purchase the 'Fast Acting' fuse (not the Slow-Acting also offered). I pulled out the old fuse from the subwoofer, replaced with the new one from Radio Shack, and YEAAAA power to speaker system, green light on speaker and all works great! These speakers are so outstanding, it's worth a try (and $150 if you can find an old set), so Good luck!
p.s. these speakers are 'plug-in and play', they don't come with or need a driver. You have some other problem such as what I mentioned above.
p.s.s. I was just corrected by Altec Lansing, use a slow-blow fuse NOT a fast-acting as I previously wrote, sorry. I found this out as now the Fast-acting just blew (thought it was working fine), so going to go back to Radio Shack to get the Slow-Blow instead. Sorry for any inconvenience!

The speakers are probably fine. What you probably need to do is to reinstall the sound drivers on your dell.
You need the model of your dell pc and go to the dell website and find download and install the sound drivers for your system.
The model of your pc will be needed if any more assistance is needed.
