1) More information is needed.
Is this new installation? Or timer that worked before and stopped working? Add a comment with complete information.

2) There are no repairs for defect timer, other than to reset timer and reprogram.
If functionality is not restored, then timer might have gone bad.

3) Question posted under ET724 in-wall timer.
If you have different timer, then add a comment.
There are at least 2 different versions of this timer. Grasslin, and GE and now Intermatic, and maybe others have made -or- are making this timer -or- have sold rights for somebody to make this timer.

4) The screen blanks during power failure.
Check that timer is getting power, and breaker is not tripped.
Frequently, power outages cause timers to fail when power turns on again and power surge affects timer.

5) Known versions of this timer are connected to Neutral wire. Timer has internal, non-replaceable battery that can go bad.
If timer-white wire is not connected to neutrals, then display will not operate.
Neutral wires are white wires that are twisted together, covered with wire nut and pushed to back of box.

And take advantage of fixya expert assistance live.
For a price, expert works with you while you work on timer or any do-it-yourself project.

How do i reset the compass on a 2006 dodge grand caravan

Hi Roger, I'm glad to help. Below is the procedure for resetting the compass on your vehicle.

COMPASS VARIATION ADJUSTMENT Compass variance, also known as magnetic declination, is the difference in angle between magnetic north and true geographic north. In some geographic locations, the difference between magnetic and geographic north is great enough to cause the compass to give false readings. If this problem occurs, the compass variance setting may need to be changed.
To set the compass variance:

1. Using the Variance Settings map, find your geographic location and note the zone number Figure 1.
22681.jpg Figure 1 - Variance Settings 2. Turn the ignition switch to the On position. If the compass/thermometer data is not currently being displayed, momentarily depress and release the C/T push button to reach the compass/thermometer display. 3. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles depress the Reset push button and hold the button down until "VAR = XX" appears in the display. This takes about five seconds. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the C/T push button and US/M push button down until "VAR = XX" appears in the display. This takes about five seconds. 4. Release the push button(s). "VAR =XX " will remain in the display. "XX" equals the current variance zone setting. 5. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles momentarily depress and release the STEP button to step through the zone numbers, until the zone number for your geographic location appears in the display. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the US/M push button to step through the zone numbers, until the zone number for your geographic location appears in the display. 6. On Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) and Compass Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC) equipped vehicles momentarily depress and release the RESET push button to enter the displayed zone number into the EVIC/CMTC module memory. On Compass Temperature Module (CT) equipped vehicles depress the C/T push button to enter the displayed zone number into the electronic module memory. 7. Confirm that the correct directions are now indicated by the compass.

Try this procedure and let me know if this does not work;

Turn the ignition switch to the "On" position but do not start the engine.

1. Press the Trip/Reset button until "Setup Menu Hold Reset" is displayed.

2. Then press and hold down the Trip/Reset button for approximately 2 seconds until "Reset For System Check" is displayed then release the Trip/Reset button.

3. Then immediately press and hold down the Trip/Reset button again for approximately 2 more seconds until "OIL 100% RESET IF NEW" is displayed then release the Trip/Reset button.

5. Then immediately press and hold the Trip/Reset button again for approximately 2 seconds until "OIL LIFE SET TO 100%" is displayed.

Turn off the ignition switch, and then start the engine to verify that the reset procedure did work, and you might have to repeat the procedure if the Trip/Reset button is not pushed fast enough, or it is not held down long enough, or it is held down too long during the reset procedure, and it may take a few attempts to be successful.

Only one of two reasons for your problem--either the DM is bad OR:

These sets sometimes develop a problem with the front keyboard---micro switches in back of the plastic buttons can fail (reset one is common).

Remove front speaker grill and inspection plate behind it and follow the group of wires coming down from the front keyboard to the right top edge of the opening.

About 8 inches to the right you will find two plugs that are inline--they go to the keyboard--disconnect both and turn set on with REMOTE (remote receiver is behind the screen).

If the set now functions you have a bad micro switch on the keyboard (most likely the reset) and two choices---either leave the keyboard unplugged and just use the remote or remove entire screen and get at the circuit board and locate and replace defective micro switch.

Lots of people miss this as a possible choice--easy to do to either know it is the keyboard or not.

If set does not operate this way DM is bad regardless of how caps look.
