I have a 353 nutone buit-in central vacuum
I connect the hose on the wall or on the unit and it doesn't do anything. It sounded like it was going to start but then it stopped.

When I plug the hose into the wall units, I have to wiggle the connection at the wall to make the suction stay on, and Only two of the three outlets have 110v for the power brush unit. Are all of the 110v supposed to be on the same ciruit?

If its an older unit or it got heavy use it could be the motor they tend to sputter as there going out, as it rotates the electricity hits a burnt spot inside the motor and shuts itself off can you turn it on manually? they usually put a swithc on the tank itself if the problem doesnt occur when you switch it then it could be the hose itself normally they control the off/on use a meter to check the continuity beteen the two copper plates that are on the end of the hose ( the wall end )

You may have a stuck relay or one of your access port switches may be bad. According to the owners manual: "A complete check of all Wall Inlet and Power Unit low voltage control lead connections (external yellow leads). Turn system off by removing fuse or tripping circuit breaker at
house fuse box."

A Nutone CV-450 System with inlet nozzle switch issues

You are suffering a connection problem of the hose end fitting to the wall outlet. Either the hose is not aligned with the two pins in the wall outlet, or the pins in the outlet are dirty and not making good connection to the hose end fittting.

CV-353 will only go off by unplugging. Electrical disconnected from ports to unit. Checked push pins on all ports and they are moving in and out.

It depends because Nutone has several different types of hoses. You can get a replacement hose or hose parts here:

Nutone 350 won't turn on at any plug-in opening. there is electricity at box where connected

You may have a bag hose. Try plugging your hose in sideways. This will bypass the switch on the hose. Does the switch on the unit work?

My nutone vacuum system won't shut off when I pull the hose out of the wall...any thoughts

The relay that turns the machine off from any of the several places where you connect, is probably stuck.

The relay is operated by low voltage. When you connect your hose, you comlete the low voltage circuit and energize the 110 volt system, and the machine comes on. When you pull the hose out, the relay is suppose to release.

those are my thoughts

I hope this is of value to you.

NuTone CV353 Central Vac does not start when hose is plugged into

Try to plug the hose in sideways. So the top of the hose is rotated 90 degrees. If the unit turns on then there is something wrong with the hose. It might be a short or it could be a bad switch on the handle. If the unit still wont turn on I would think that maybe the low voltage wire got disconnected from the unit or there is a break in the low voltage wire somewhere along the way. Let me know if you plugging the hose in sideways works.

You need to determine if this is a problem with the hose or the unit. I would recommend plugging my hose in the wall sideways. This should make your central vacuum run continuously. If the unit doesn't cut on and off it is the hose. If it still cuts on and off it is probably the relay.

Nutone 353 central vacuum....all of a sudden, poor suction at all house outlets.. Checked hoses and pipes for obstruction...none found

I think this unit has a utility valve on the front. If so, do you have good suction at this valve? If not, disconnect the inlet piping and check the suction directly from the inlet. Make sure the utility valve is closed while checking the suction on the inlet. If you have good suction, you have an open pipe or valve somewhere in the house. If you have any vacpans, check these first. Next, turn the unit on and walk through the house and listen for air whistling. If you do not have good suction from the inlet at the unit with the utility valve closed, replace your bag and look for a secondary filter that may be plugged. Good Luck!

Nutone CV 450

if your unit normally turns on when you open the flap on the wall inlets then you should check each inlet for a switch or a button, sometimes those buttons can get loose and fall into the wall making the unit stay on.
