Question about Canon PIXMA MP600 all-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer won't pull paper into printer

Our Canon MP600 Printer stopped pulling paper into the printer from the back tray.  Even though the printer has paper loaded, the message says that we should load paper.   It won't pull paper through, it pulls on the right and wrinkles the paper. I tried using the lower tray, which worked for about 8 pages and then quit.

I have the exact problem where the paper does not feed properly -- it is pulled from the right roller and wrinkles the paper up causing a jam. It happens with several types of paper (i.e. photo, plain, etc.) as well as new or old. My printer is about a year old and had been working perfectly until this problem.

To me, it appears that it might be something that would require professional servicing rather than an end user fix. I hope it's not the case because I would have to decide to repair it or just throw it away and purchase another printer.

How long have you owned the printer. How long have you had this problem? Is the paper old? Sometimes storage of the paper causes humidity and can cause this problem. You might want to try newer paper or clean the rollers with some alcohol on a rag/cloth. If you need any other assistance let me know. If you have a moment to accept and rate my solution I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Lee

The Power Supplies for the MP600 burn out over time. They are easy to buy and replace:
My MP600 Power supply died as well. Web searches (including Canon) turned up nothing. Called Canon. To order power supply from Canon, call: 866-481-2569 (credit card over the phone, no on-line interface). $34.49 with tax and delivery.
Note: the power supply has black tabs the you push away from the grey power supply case. One tab in front and one in back. The grey power supply box pulls right out of the printer. The internal connector (six colored wires) pulls straight out (there is no release tab/catch). Use small screwdriver or needle nose plyers to carefully remove. Pull/pry the female white nylon connector. Do not pull on the wires.

Even though my printer settings are set to print and use the paper in tray 1 - the printer wants to pull from the bypass tray (which always pulls crooked). The printer used to work just fine then the alert...

Two things to check for a problem like this:
1) Driver Settings:
If your computer's drivers are telling the machine to pull from the bypass tray it'll ignore the machine settings. You're kind of on your own here figuring it out, if you can't though then try deleting the printer from the computer and re-installing it (will default settings)

2) Manual Feed sensor:
When you put paper into the bypass try you're activating a flag which tells a sensor there's paper there, if this flag is stuck forcing the sensor to constantly think you have paper there it would always to pull from there. Find the flag, move it back and forth, hit it with some air from a can of air.

Paper jam in canon MP600 Printer

If you cannot see the paper jam, perhaps it is inside the machine:

1) Open the rear cover and inspect the area for any bits of paper that might impede the paper path

2) On the front of the machine, pull out the cassette (paper tray) and inspect the cassette area for any paper jammed inside.

Feed paper is pulled into the right side of printer (facing Printer) and jams. Cleaning no help.Canon Pixma MP600.

I had the same problem, tried and failed with all maintenance tasks including cleaning all rubber rollers and belts, manually turning the rollers and belt, only succeeded in forcing out some small paper debris, but still jamming.Googled for answers, even looking at a technician service manual post by Baido.com,none have provide a tried and succeeded answer, even the paid answers by experts were suggesting the rollers needed to be replaced due to wear and tear, but we are only light duty user,it is unlikely.Next thing you know $3 a question,20 questions later, you are out $60 and still end up with a broken printer . I finally used thick heavy photo papers to test print as they are unlikely to rip and tear when jammed, the first time it made a very loud and very loud grinding noise,I cancelled the printing immediately and slowly and firmly pulled the photo paper out from the front ejecting compartment,a small piece of what looked like a spiral bounded calender type paper came out with the pulling.Tried again with photo paper for printing, this time it made the same loud noise again, stopped print immediately, thought I f-cked up,while carefully and firmly pulling the photo paper ,a small piece of Styrofoam came out. After that every printing test for front paper loader and the front bottom cassette loader work flawlessly with plain paper.I realized that the front loading feeder tray iwas the entrance culprit of these small shits that got inside without any body's knowing.Taped the front feeder tray close, use only the bottom cassette feeder as it is completely enclosed, nothing will get in there.Because a lot of people put things on top of the printer cover when not in use,**** got in there accidentally and stupidly.Hope this will help, saved myself a lot of money and time in setting up new printer to the local and wireless network,I am not a techno guy.Try at your own risk,I had nothing to lose, thought I had to buy a new printer, now the printer is working like new, smooth, quite and fast.

Error code B200

Try keeping the paper only in the bottom tray (there's a tray in the bottom) Try pulling any paper out of the top and just close that top tray. Open up the head so that u can see the ink cartridges and turn the printer on and off and maybe it will center itself again. If it's still not working (even if lights aren't red and print head wont align in the center) try manually moving the head back and forth like 18 times so you can lubricate that rail in the back that's holding it. After that, re-turn it off and on again.

I check the paper tray, then I tried unplugging it from the USB cable, nothing....then I discovered a lock on the backside of my printer, I opened it and there the error was...PAPERJAM. I carefully pulled out the paper tried not to rip it. Voila? printer WORKS FINE!!! Sometimes you even have to shake it a little or turn it upside down.

1 Answer

Canon MP600 paper jam

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Printer won't pull paper into printer

Check the "Feed Switch" button on the control panel (below the ON/OFF button) to be sure the green light at the back of the picture is lit. If not, try pushing the button and then printing again. It worked for me and it was so simple!

No paper message

I have just posted a very similar problem!!

While I do not have the solution to our problem, I discovered another paper try below where the printed paper comes out.

Close the door to block where the paper would come out if it successfully printed, and look below that, you will find that you can pull out another paper tray. Adjust the little plastic paper guides inside, and your printer will use that paper.

Temporary solution, let me know if you figured out how to fix the problem with it rolling the paper through, just reply/post back to this message. Mine was working perfectly yesterday, and just started that grinding noise today. I've only had it for a couple months, too.
