No. GPS units are receive only. Yes some have an FM & bluetooth transmitters but the transmitting range is very limited to just a few feet.

My advice to you is use the Garmin 4-digit lock and change the splash screen to show something like:

"Property of (your first name)"
"Your email address"
"Your phone number"
"Reward for GPS return"

Also, put a text file on Nuvi's directory with the same info.

Write your serial number down and keep it in a secure place.

This won't prevent it from getting stolen but will make it known that it is and you might just get it back. Doing nothing will certainly gurantee you won't get it back.

Good luck!

My recent roommate that just moved out has stollen my tomtom gps yet she admitted it to other friends but is denying it to me, so how can i track it to get it back?

Ask the friend who she is talking to, find out where she is located ... maybe you should report this to your police department. this sounds like a case for "Judge Judy"

My boat is pointed in the wrong direction on my Raymarine C80 chartplotter?

I'm not sure where you would locate "reset to factory specifications". Look for it in the GPS menus (may be in the System) and reset, it is no big deal to reset a GPS, it will not hurt anything. I the GPS is set to back Track. To check this turn your boat around and follow the track on the lake chart. If you and your boat are now going in the same direction the GPS was set on Back Track.

Someone took my garmin nuvi 250w can i track it?

sadly, no. garmin and most GPS devices are strictly GPS receivers, meaning they do not output any kind of signal that can be tracked. If your device has been stolen, i recommend that you register your device if it is not already registered with Garmin.

Lost gps an cant remember the brand

You could do a Google search of the model numbers and see what comes  up.  You will probably get some hits on Amazon or eBay that could identify the manufacturer's name or the type of GPS it goes with.

Can a car gps system be tracked by its location ( a single unit) if it was stolen and then used by the suspect?

Hello bulldog6895,

No, you cannot typically track most GPS devices. A GPS receives signals from orbiting Global Positioning Satellites and then uses the information from those signals to calculate its position on the earth. That information is reports on the screen of the GPS but that's it. The information isn't sent anywhere and can't be received by outside devices.

There are tracking devices that use a GPS receiver combined with a radio transmitter or cellular phone transmit to send the location reports in a way that can be received by outside parties, which enables tracking. However, most GPS units do not have this capability.

Best Regards
