Tension on upper thread?

I've just started doing a lot of embroidering on my machine. And I've noticed that I'm having problems with the bobbin thread showing through the embroidery. I didn't have this problem in previous projects, just the past couple of times.

I've adjusted the tension anywhere from 2 to -4 and the bobbin thread still shows.

Also, sometimes the upper thread will break and be really shredded.

Help!! :)

Thank you!

I am having the same problem. When doing embroidery, the bobbin thread shows on the embroidery. I have adjusted the tension up and down and the problem still persists. I have taken the under portion apart to clean and make sure everything looks good. I am desperate for a solution as I have a lot of embroidery to do in a short amount of time.

    Thanks in advance.

Um, timing is probably Not the problem. I see this question a lot about machine embroidery. In regular sewing, to keep the bobbin thread from coming up on top, the upper tension needs to be reduced. However, sometimes reducing the top tension is not enough and you may need to increase the bobbin tension to keep the thread below the fabric

It sounds like the machine needs to be timed, seek out a sewing machine repair shop for this service.

SOURCE: Brother PE-150V bobbin thread

For embroidery, and zig-zag, and because the needle makes side movements, it needs more needle thread.
So try to keep you needle thread not very tight,
and tight up your bobbin case tension more, so that the two threads meet under the meterial.

SOURCE: Baby lock EMP6 problem.

Have you tried changing out the bobbin case? you may have a small burr or scratch. A new one cost about 20$ I think. I have had to replace mine before and it is always good to have a new one on hand.

SOURCE: Babylock Ellure thread issues

I have the same machine and love it. Sometimes if the thread is old that will happen to me.  And also I spray the thread with static guard before i thread the machine in dry cold weather.  Since you said you are an embroiderer I assume you are using the same weight thread top and bottom. The other thing that causes that on my machine is if there is a nick on the spool of thread I am using and the thread catches just a little as it comes off the spool.  I use a fine nail file and smooth off the edge where the little v is to reattach the thread when you are finish using it.  I never use them. You do sew a little and cut off the tail off the top thread before you let it go through the rest of design. I hope you have found the solution but I learned these tricks while having the same problem as you.

You are not getting bobbin tension somehow. Either not threaded correctly in the assembly or it needs to be adjusted tighter.

SOURCE: Bobbin problems!

MAKE SURE you are using the correct SIZE bobbin. Some of the older plastic bobbins don't swap around in the newer machines & just because they LOOK the same doesn't mean they are. If you are absolutely POSITIVE you are using the right size bobbin (mark it w/ a permanent marker if you have to, to keep track of it), check & double check you are putting the bobbin in the case in the right direction & make sure there aren't any loose threads anywhere in the area where the bobbin sits... be sure all little dust bunnies are removed. I know it sounds redundant but get your book out & be POSITIVE you are threading thru all the thread paths in the right direction. My Babylock is supremely **** when it comes to putting the shuttle back in after I've cleaned the bobbin area & if I don't get it back exactly where it supposed to go, it won't sew right. I always have to get my book back & check it out again step by step. I have it do crazy stuff just because there was a little tail hanging out where the bobbin started to wind that I didn't cut off close enough.

There are tests to perform for testing and adjusting bobbin tension. There really aren't any "specifications" other than adjusting it until the bobbin drop test is where it is normally recommended.

P.S.--be sure to ALWAYS raise the presser foot when threading the upper thread to insure the thread seats completely in the tension disk.

Brother pe770 bobbin thread is showing on top of fabric.

First check threading. If it is done properly, then it's probably because it is dirty between the lower tension blade and the bobbin case body. Remove this blade, clean, reassemble and it shoud work.

I have used my Embroidery machine for a couple of years and have not near mastered it, My thread is too loose, then at the same time the bobbin thread is pulled through to the top. Yes the bird nest is...

When you're embroidering, ALWAYS have the tension set on "E." Unfortunately with a Singer, you will always have bobbin thread pulling thru to the top-I found this out from a technician a few years ago who also serviced Vikings and Husqvarna's. He went through a lot to show and explain it to me, but suffice it to say that with a Singer you need to use the same thread in the bobbin as on top when you're embroidering-it's simply a flaw with their machines.

The bird's nest could be a number of problems, but first we need to be sure you're setting your tension set on "E". If you are, leave me a comment back and we'll go through some specific steps to take about the bobbin. Otherwise, correct you're tension setting and see if that corrects the bird's nest problem. If not, again, leave me another comment back and leave me any details you can as to the type of material your embroidering on, the thread you're using, etc. It may seem like a pain, but you'd be surprised how fussy the littlest thing can be. I check in daily, so I'll get back to you within 24 hours. I've used my CE100 for 4 years and have mastered it quite well, so I feel confident that I'll be able to help you.

My bobbin thread keeps coming to the top of my fabric during embroidering on my Singer Futura CE350, I've tried bobbin embroidery thread, regular embroidery thread and clear nylon thread, I've tried...

With the embroidering, some of the bobbin thread is SUPPOSED to show on the top of your embroidery-the machine isn't doing anything incorrectly. You'll need to thread your bobbin with the same thread as you are using with the top. I had the same "problem" when I first got the machine and took it to a wonderful local technician whose helped me with a lot of things who informed me that this is perfectly normal on embroidery machines.

The bottom side of the item I am embroidering is showing all of the top thread color. I have adjusted the tension dial and bobbin tension. Any other suggestions?

Normally you will see the about 1/3 bobbin thread and about 2/3 of the top thread on the bottom side of the fabric. If you dont see any of the bobbin thread on the back side turn the upper tension (needle tension) to a larger number.
Good Luck,
Doug

Top thread will not pick up bobbin thread makes a big loopy mess

This is sometimes caused by the upper thread not threaded correctly. You need to thread it first with the pressure foot in the up position. You need to "floss" the thread into the clear plastic guide as this is where the tension is. The tension should be set to E for embroidering. Also make sure you get the bobbin thread in the slot on the bobbin case. Also, lower your pressure foot before you begin embroidering. Hope this helps!

I am embroidering and my machine is picking up the bobbin thread and it is appearing on the front of my project and also on the bottom of the design

Make sure that the bobbin thread is in the bobbin case tension. If you are using special "bobbin thread" it may be a lighter weight thread than the top thread.

Turn the upper tension to a lower number.

Make sure that you have adequate stabilizer and the appropriate type.

Mc 5700 problem

Check for loose threads or fluff in upper tension unit and bobbin case tension gauged to 14g resistence. Otherwise, service time I'm afraid. Have it serviced by an authorized Husqvarna Viking Service Technician. You can locate a dealer near you by visiting the husqvarna viking website and clicking on the Dealer link on the left-hand side of the page - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com

Good luck.
