Question about Whirlpool GHW9400 Duet Washer

Whirlpool Duet GHW9400PWO, Exessive Vibration

Our washer vibrates and shakes excessively. Since I purchased an extended service plan I had a specialist stop by. The specialist ensured my wife that all that shaking and all that noise is normal. Finally I got tired of the washers behaviour and took the top panel off. Three screws and extremely easy. I found that a quarter of the rear counter weight is missing. It is not on the floor and since I can’t find it anywhere I assume that the unit was shipped with a broken counter weight. So, I call my extended service plan provider again and described the situation. After a very frustrating discussion I was told that I have to pay the repair out of my pocket because I took the top panel of.
Here is my question:
How difficult is it to replace the broken rear counter weight with a new one. I am no expert but I am technically inclined. Could you please let me know what the part number is and where I can purchase the rear counter weight.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you very much,

Tom

    SearsTechToo,

Thank you very much for your response.

How difficult is it to replace the broken rear counter weight with a new one. I am no expert but I am technically inclined. Does the rear panel have to be removed or is it sufficient to remove the corner bracket that holds the wires and electronic to get access to the rear counter weight.

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Thank you very much,

    Tom

I see your problem, try this link for part info, look around for a local store or print this and write down model and serial to call and tell em you need the rear counterweight for this model.

The best way is to remove the panel and the top cross brace that will be exposed after the panel will be off. There should be three 7/16 or 1/2 inch bolts and please note the order on the washers.

WHIRLPOOL DUET SPORT FRT LODER WASHER VIBRATES VERY BAD

Might be a simple fix. First, make sure your machine is sitting level (or pretty close to level) on the floor. Next, using a Torx bit (probably, that's what my 9250 had), unscrew the screws holding on the front access panel. When you look inside, you'll notice several shocks (usually 4) that stabilize the drum as it turns and spins. Make sure they are all intact and mounted to the drum (they have a tendancy, especially after having been run in an excessively vibrating state, to dismount from the drum). If the mounting pin is intact, stretch the shock to reinsert it into the slot on the bracket mounted to the drum, and turn to lock it into place. If the mounting pin is broken, you'll need to order another (probably the entire shock, actually) to repair it. Also, be sure that you are not overstuffing your washer, as overloading will also cause excessive vibration. Hope this helps!

Vibrates, shakes and moves around and has a lot of noise while spinning. It has been leveled and the floor seems sturdy enough.

Whirpool Duet "walking"

Hi, most of the time this can be a simple as a overload that will dramatically shake this type of washer. due to its front load design, it is recommeded to load accordingly to specs. overloading this type of washer will induce walking/excessive vibration during the spin cycle.

Whirlpool Duet GHW9300PW4 vibration problem. We have vibration pads already under the feet. We have the machine level with 3/4'' plywood bolted to the subflooring. The vibration was better for a while and...

If you dryer moves away from the washer when the washer is shaking then it's still your floor sorry. The duets are not really known to have bad vibration and shaking problems. If you think the floor is ok then check to see if your inner tub basket can wiggle up or down their should be no play in the basket, you could have a bad tub bearing, make sure your drain pump is pumping out the water fast enough. hope this helps.

y shaped piece that contains the spindle that attatches to the basket and allows it to spin is corroded and cracking. you can't buy just the spindle bracket, you must buy the basket too. you'll be buying the front part of the drum too, if you wait to long.

Walking Washer

Front loading washers do not do well on the new "soft" flooring that is installed in so many homes. We placed a thick commercial style rug with thick rubber backing all the way under ours which was sitting on Pergo and it stopped the problem. This wasn't my idea, it was what the repairman told me AFTER a service call! You should be able to purchase such a rug at a hardware store or a large department store in a small size. The rug just needs to really stick to the floor.

Good luck to you and Thank you for using Fix Ya!
