this happened to me also, whats wrong with my tv ?

  • Anonymous Jan 16, 2009

After the 5 seconds or so the standby led changes from green to red and starts flashing. I believe the set detects an over temperature condition as the cooling fan keeps running during this time. After 30 seconds or so it attempts automatically to restart and sometimes will run without any problem thereafter.

    Very frustrating.

i heard a popping noise ran downstairs only to see the power light blinking red on the tv, what is the deal??

  • andysvolvo May 22, 2009

i have the same problem, but as luck would be i have two of these sets.

one of my sets starts from standby red then flashing green then after approx 10secs steady flashing red.

the flashing red is the power light (not warning light) which is next to lamp replace indicater.

i suspect it is whats called a ballast board which has some kind of start up for the projection bulb.

i'll keep you all posted with my results'

    regards andy

Several things. There are 4 fans in this unit. There are 2 squirrel cage type fans that get dirty and plugged stopping needed airflow to the bulb assy. Theres the larger exhaust fan (on the right as viewed from rear) that gets dirty as well as a smaller fan inside that gets dirty which is towards the left side. (as viewed from behind).

If these fans manfunction there is a thermister switch that will cause the warning and/or power light to come on. Mine did the same thing and would have to plug and unplug it several times before it comes on.

I took the back apart replacced the large exhaust fan the thermister switch and blew out the rest of the fans and it worked fine again. Its not difficult, just time consuming with the many screws to remove.

I'm also having the same trouble. It's only a day when I bought this TV and after watching for 2 or 3 hours, I turned the TV off to take a shower, when I get back to open it, it only turns green and I hear a sound for like just 5 secs, then it goes back to red (standby mode). What seems to be the problem? The LCD is 32" and a day old.

It may be the lamp itself, some will dim just before failing.

Average life is 2000 hours or two years for OEM lamps and much less for generic ones.

how about a light indicator, is there a light at the front panel of the tv?. if none check the power supply first, which may have blown fuse at the primary of the power supply.

Green power light comes on for a split second, then red.

The power supply (AC adapter) is bad. It has enough power to light the red LED, but not enough to power the TV.

PLV-Z1 no longer powering up - Ready light is green and the Lamp light is red

I have a Sanyo XU35. Mine was starting up and showed a picture for about 15 - 30 seconds then shutting down. My lamp warning light was not coming on. When I put it in for repairs it turned out to be the lamp that needed replacing. The technician said it is not uncomman for the lamp to be gone and the lamp warning light not to come on. I got my lamp on e-bay from ping_ngo for a great price.

Sony FWD50PX2/S 50 in. Plasma Television power problem

It does sound like a power supply problem but that can be misleading because a problem somewhere else in the TV can be "holding down" the power supply. This can usually be determined by using some isolation techniques.

Sanyo PLV-55WM1

Hi I read your problem with the Sanyo PLV-55wm1. It sounds to me like a power supply problem. Like most new electronics devices, they use a switched mode power supply (SMPS)to supply the voltages to the rest of the set. Many of them use a current feedback loop to sense a short in the circuits that it powers. I would check for a shorted diode in the high voltage section of the tv. If any one of the components is shorted around the high voltage circuit, The current control line will be zero forcing the regulator to shut down.
