No sound Toshiba M45-269 laptop

I suddenly lost all sound on my M45-S269 laptop. I don't have sound on startup, in media players (windows media player, real, or any others). I get an exclamation mark under sound in device manager and the error no sound card found. I have dowloaded new drivers and get same message.

Seems that the drivers for your sound card is not installed. Just update the sound driver. Where did you purchase the product? Where did you download the driver? You could have download a driver for a different OS.

If the excalation mark on your device manager is gone, that should fix the isse.

Hope this helps.

Try running check disk.

To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.------------------------------------------------------
If check disk does not solve the problem then you'll have to reinstall your operating system.

Cant see my movie but here sound

If you're using windows media player its probably because you don't have the right codecs.
Try opening the movie with vlc player or MPC-HC.http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

I have suddenly lost the sound on my windows media player I may have touched something I dont know it has been OK all this time, it plays but there is no sound please help

It appears that accidently you have clicked on the speaker icon in windows media player which has muted the sound. Please click again on the speaker icon. The sound will come back again. If it does not then check the volume settings on the task bar. This ma have been muted. Click on it and see the volume settings. The slider should not be absolutely down. Slide it up. The sound will come back again.
