Do you have an amplifier powering your speakers? if so make sure you have the correct remote wire and not the auto antenna wire

Alpine CDA-9831 No Sound From CD's? My Alpine 9831 has always worked fine on the "Tuner" setting in my stock 3 series BMW. But recently I put a CD in for the 1st time and the head unit shows...

Are you using an amplifier? If so make sure you are using the blue/white wire to turn your amp on. The blue wire is power antenna turn on and turns off when leaving tuner mode.

I have an Alpine CDA 9851 and the cd player shows that it's playing...by that I mean the timer for the player is running, but there isn't anything coming through the speakers...is the player bad or does...

Hello .... your Player show the counter is counting but you don't have any sound .. Check your Main connection between your Radio and your CD deck player it possible your sound terminal connection is unplug due to excessive vibration on a bad driving road

Adjust

I have an Alpine CDA-9813 and to access bass, treble, fade, and balance, you need to press the volume button. This button is usually rotated to adjust the volume but on mine, if you press it in, first time accesses bass, second press accesses treble, 3rd press accesses balance(left to right), and 4th press accesses fading (forward to rear. Press it a 5th time and it either brings you back to volume or back to the main screen. I think it is volume tho. I would assume that the 9853 would work very similar, if not the same.

Turning the bass level down

I could not find an owners manual for the CDA-9853, but I did find one close to it and it should be able to guide you to where the bass and treble levels are It is the CDA-9820. here is where you can download it from for free: http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/products/product_downloads_pdf/cda-9820xm_ptg.pdf Good Luck
