HOW TO LIGHT OVEN WITH A MATCH

Look up product manual on internet.
Look at label located inside oven door, and add .pdf to search parameter to help find manual.
Then read section about lighting appliance.

If power is out, then pilot will not have any gas >> if gas control is electronic.
Many electronic gas controls require electric power to operate circuit board.

In old days, you removed the bottom tray on oven to access burner and pilot orifice. Then you pushed down switch to release gas through pilot tube, and put lit match into the gas stream to light pilot. Hold down switch until pilot flame heated tip of thermocouple which caused magnetic switch to stay open inside gas control. Release switch and pilot stayed lit.

Safety concerns and vast advances in manufacturing cheapness have changed gas appliances so they are more inconvenient for do-it-yourselfers during ordinary power outage.
Cook hamburger over metal bucket with newspaper, and grease on newspaper burns enough to cook hamburger.
People always buy generators and flashlights, but nobody suggest buying barbeque briquets and starter fluid as way to keep warm and cook.

Oven will not light

Gas Oven, if you had gas flow you would have used a match to light it instead of asking a question here so assuming no gas flowing to burner...

1) Oven is not "ON"
2) Oven selection is ON, temperature is mot
3) No Gas (Propane empty, supply valve closed. etc.)
4) Blocked by safety feature (anti-tip/blowout/etc.)
5) (if equipped) try the broiler
6) Defective equipment, obtain repair service

if this was Electric Oven light
4) unplugged/breaker off/no power
3) socket failed
2) lamp burned out
1) switch is off

Hi I lost my manual guide so I don't how to turn the oven on. Please give any idea to use the oven

Hi there,

As I'm unsure of your oven model, I can only give general instructions.

Look for a dial or switch that indicates temperature and turn it on if your oven is electric.

If you have a gas oven, you may have to turn a dial and push it at the same, this is to produce a gas flow. If it makes a "clicking" sound it has peizo ignition and will light itself.

If there is no sound, look in the oven for a lever (usually on the floor) and pull it. This will produce a gas flow which you will have to light with a match. Usually you place the lighted match over an existing hole in the oven floor and this will light the oven. TAKE GREAT CARE!!!! The hole is usually at the back of the oven whilst the lever is usually located towards the front of the oven!

I hope this is of some assistance.

Gas oven Hotpoint RGA 720 I can't light the oven pilot

There is likely some kind of gas line blockage or valve problem. This is not a do-it-yourself fix. Call a repair person.

Bottom oven is not working - I set it but it isn't heating at all. There are no errors being issued, no gas odor. The top oven is working fine

Hi, open oven door, remove last panel, you will see oven burner, check pilot, if you see a small tube, manually strick a match and light it, then turn oven knob to on position, but if there's no pilot tube, then you got electrical ignition, could be faulty thermostat(knob you turn to put oven on) or thermocouple(device where oven burner conected too) could be faulty. but first check your oven pilot, it should be always lighting, sometimes, they get blown out. good luck.

The electric has gone off--can I use the oven by lighting it myself? how?

Sure but, this is not recommended so be very careful when igniting this oven manually. i would turn on the gas at a very low range then, use a fire place match. These matches are very long. If your range is totally electric. you will not be able to use the unit because it uses an element that is charged by electricity.

Automatic Ignition Oven Problem

Depending on the type of ignition used (sometimes they have pressure sensitive switchs other times its just a simple microswitch) the switch's may have gone but also can you hear a clicking but the burners / oven not lighting? if so then the electroeds on the appliance may just need cleaning if not then i would recommend getting an engineer out the repair its self should be pretty cheap
