I am not sure how old the projector is but the lamp has been said to be new. It looks new.

The unit is completely dead. No lights come on not evem to indicate 240v present. There is a light that flashes if ther is a problem with the lamp so I do not think the fault lies there.

    Fuze OK.
240V Present on PSU front end.

I do not have a circuit diagram to check Dc voltages. Any one got a diagram?

I have tried two more lamps that came with the projector and it is as dead as a doornail with all of them. I suppose all three lamps could be faulty but i would think that to be unlikely. I can buy a new lamp but do not want to throw good money after bad. Any thoughts?

Would you be comfortable in opening up the unit? If you are please check if the fuse on the internal power supply is ok. Check if power is being distributed to the board.

Ive recently bought a second hand Sony Cineza VPL-HS2 projector and it doesnt have an AVG input in the back. It does have a S-Video input, a 'video' input and a couple of audio inputs,

I think you mean "VGA" not "AVG". You can use the VGA to S-Video adapter to connect the laptop to the projector however you may get better results using a VGA to A/V (component) adapter to feed video into the RCA video input connector.

an electrical issue (power supply area) is correct. check manufacturer for part replacement info would be the best move.

Noticed a yellow hue in the centre of the image projected by BOTH of my second-hand Sony VPL PX40's.

Bit of a common problem with Sony projectors of the era that they often had problems with fading and/or cracking of one or more the LCD panels - especially the blue ones for some reason, leading to the type of problem you are experiencing. No point in swapping components either as they will both have similar faults - although replacing an LCD in a video projector is almost impossible without the manufacturers jigs to mechanically align them afterwards anyway...

LMP-H150 reset hours on sony cineza VPL-HS2

These instructions are for a Sony Cineza VPL HS3, but may be the same for the HS2
1st thing to check - is the cover properly/completely closed - this can stop the projector from working.
Connect the power and set the projector to standby mode.
Press these buttons on the remote control in this order, for less than 5 seconds each.
Reset - Left Arrow - Right Arrow - Enter

This is required, to reset the lamp timer.

Also, something I found interesting from the internet - lamp life isn't when the bulb dies, but when a bulb has lost 10% of its brightness - so you might well be able to reset the timer and get much more use from the bulb - the image just wont be as bright.

Can't on

The service manual states that a blinking lamp indicator means the lamp cover is not attached securely or the air filter is not inserted properly. You may try removing both and re-attaching to see if this clears up the problem.
