Question about ATI RADEON HD 2400 PRO Graphic Card

1 Answer

ATI RAdeon HD2400 in Dell Optiplex 755.

Want to run two flat panels with separate displays out of one DVI connector. When the system is connected with one Dell Flat panel (DELL E228 WFP) and working normally, I disconnect the flat panel from the PC.

Flat Panel goes into Auto Detect (Digital Input) w/four color bars.

Connect Y adapter PCM-2280 to PC and connect flat panel to one side of Y adapter. Flat Panel goes: Auto detect Enter Power Save. And Blank.

Pull the flat panel cable off the Y adapter and the Flat panel back to normal no connection and 4 color bars.

Does this video card support two flat panels? If so what is the proper cable to connect to flat panels? Seems that when the Y cable is inserted and the flat panel is reconnected, that the display should return.

  • One VGA analog connector
  • HDTV Component (YPrPb) output (adapter)
  • Drive two displays simultaneously with independent resolutions and refresh rates4
  • TV output requires HDMI, component, S-video or composite cable (not included)
Two integrated DVI display outputs
  • Primary supports 18-, 24-, and 30-bit digital displays at all resolutions up to 1920x1200 (single-link DVI) or 2560x1600 (dual-link DVI)1

My Radeon card isn't recognizing the monitor and Catalyst won't read its full resolution (1024 x 768).

Hello there
The HD 2400 is a pretty old card and I doubt it will give brilliant graphics.or will it run DX11
However.
1)Have you disabled the 'on-board' graphics in your BIOS settings ? Your computer will not recognise it if the old on board chip is enabled.
2) Have you tried connecting the 2400 using the 15 pin video connector ?
3) You say it isnt 'recognising' the hd2400 and yet you are saying the monitor is working at 640 !!!! Which is it. Does the monitor work on the old onboard output or the HD2400 ?
4) The version of catalyst depends on your operating system and whether 32 or 64 bit.
Use the right one via here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
and uninstall the old one first..
5) If the monitor does not work at all on the HD2400 try the card in a different PCI slot.
6) ALWAYS check after you start the PC that in 'Device Manager' that the display adapter (hd2400) is recognised.
7) run ' DXDIAG ' to see how good the monitor is. (type in dxdiag the start orb search box)

I have dell optiplex 755. Does my system support ati radeon 3650?. Also recommend me any else card which is suitable for my computer

what model is this small form factor ? mini tower?anyhow, here are the things that you may consider .
if its a small form factor unit then you may need to get a video card that is Low Profile
and also consider the power supply :
The ATI Radeon HD 4650 512MB Low Profile PCIe x16 graphics card should work fine with the 275w PSU.
Max power draw is 48 watts

Will ATI Radeon x1900 run on my Dell Optiplex 755?

Looking at the specifications for the Optiplex 755 line I'm seeing the highest power supply is in the minitower version at 305W. I can't find a document specifying the power requirements for the Radeon x1900, but most benchmark power consumption tests show the system pulls around 280 - 300W with that card installed.
The problem is either your specific Optiplex 755 configuration can't support the power requirements, I don't know if you have the MiniTower, Desktop Tower, Small Form Factor or Ultra Small Form Factor version of the sytem or the card is itself is bad.

I have a video card radeon hd 2400 series for vista 64 bit compatibility, will it work on xp 32? what can i do to make it work?

Hi There,
Yes it will work with Windows XP operating system.
1. If you're going to change the Vista operating system to WIN XP 32bit, you have to find WIN XP 32bit drivers for *********** board as well as the HD2400. Install Xp 32 bit
2. For HD 2400 drivers just click the link. ATI The link includes Catalyst, OpenCL and Display drivers.
3. Wait for the download to finish, Run the 32bit display driver and follow onscreen messages reboot if prompted.

A. If you're going to use it in another machine just download the display driver and attach the graphic card.

Hopefully this information helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Once i connect my gt5662 to a monitor nothing is on the screen, i know the monitor is in fine condition, i realize the graphics card it came with has 2 different slots, should i buy an adapter an hook the...

Did the computer boot to a monitor before? Is this a new monitor for this computer? The GT5662 came with an ATI Radeon HD2400 PCI-e video card. There is also an onboard VGA port on the back of the computer. The VGA port should be disabled. The ATI Radeon HD2400 PCI-e video card comes with two DVI connectors. With the back of the computer facing you, you would use the one on the right. You would have to have an DVI to VGA adapter to use them unless your monitor has a DVI connector also. Hope this helps. This is what the VGA and DVI connectors look like. _498.jpgmoz-screenshot.png

Monitr compatibility

That will plug right in. Your existing monitor has a VGA connection, which matches what you have on this monitor (where it plugs in on the back of the computer you will find a blue connector). Just put this one in it's place.

The industry is moving to DVI, which is a long white connector, but monitors are still coming with the VGA connection anyway. This monitor is DVI capable which means it will be great for your next computer, but you will need to buy the DVI cable separately (not today, but when you eventually get a new computer).

Dell Optiplex GX280 Video Card Install Problem

You hit that one right on the dot.  ATI website showed the specs for that graphics card you installed as needing a 300 Watt power supply.  Good news though... I researched newegg.com and I believe I found your 300W power supply.  There are 4 different Optiplex gx280 designs with 4 completely different power supplies.  Since you bought the low-profile video card, I believe you have the slim computer case and this power supply should work for you...

Dual monitors can't extend desktop

Connecting Two Monitors
Use the cable adapter to connect a VGA monitor and a DVI monitor to the DVI-I connector on the back panel.

When you connect two monitors, the video driver will detect this connection and activate the multimonitor functionality.
This is the only way to enable extended display. If you use a standard splitter and connect two DVI montors, the display will only be mirrored.

Detailed documentation is available at http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/op755/en/UG/HTML/ultrasma.htm

Hope this helps! Please rate your feedback!

Yes you can but there should be an option in the monitor settings for DVI... Maybe if you go into safe mode and attempt adjusting settings for the ati for the dvi output, from what I hear that monitor is nice with the DVI option would be aa shame to lose that.

Dell PC with ATI Radion X1300 Pro using High quality short DVI cables

Hey there Carol H, I would agree that the amplifier is the likely source of the distortion or picture break up. It is the last in the series of steps therefore most likely the problem. Also the problem did not appear until the signal ran through the amplifier, thus indicating that the amp created rather amplify the problem. If your need is to have multiple monitors installed on one machine, I suggest you consider a system which supports Scalable D.G.E., Crossfire, or SLi technology. These allow multiple video cards and therefore multiple connections, as well as improving overall performance, and reducing strain on system resources. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
