Question about HP Office Equipment & Supplies
Toshiba wireless laptop is connected to HP720 prints only test page.Tried out printing from microsoft word and I can only get my HP 720 to print out a test page and it is in color only so I don't even know if that is correct. When I try to print from word it will only print a page that says windows xp on the very top. Any suggestions?
email@example.com p.s. already put two new cartridges (black and color) aligned them and cleaned them and still won't print
Check printer settings. Also check windows setting for the printer. Also, be sure the printer is not offline.

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I have the same problem. I can't tell you how to fix it as my printer will no longer align, but to bypass the align page message to get to setup you have to hold down the setup button then press up.

We are going to attempt to do a "power purge" to get rid of any clogged ink nozzles. Note, this will probably eat up about half of your ink, but that is the price you must pay in order to attempt to fix this bad boy.
1) Get into maintenance mode. Press these keys: Menu -> Black Start -> Scan x4 (hit it four times). A number pad should come up. If not, do it again.
2) Hit key 7, then key 6.
3) Press the right key until you get to "CLEANING BLACK."
4) Press 3.
5) Press Black Start.
After it purges and gets back to the main maintenance screen, press keys 9 and 9.
Let your printer start back up. If this does not work, try the above steps up to three times. If it does not work then, you need a new print head, which is not a user-replaceable part on this model.

SOURCE: Printer will not align
When the print cartridge contacts are dirty and the printer cannot detect/communicate with print cartridge.
Clean the contact points on the cartridges with a dry, lint-free cloth.
1. Open the top cover of the printer.
2. Remove the print cartridges.
3. Clean the copper-colored contact points on the cartridges with a damp, lint-free cloth.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove moisture from the contacts.
5. Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
6. Close the top cover.
7. Try printing again.
If you still cant communicate try with new cartridge .

Take the plastic strip off the ink jet cartridge before putting the thing in the printer. Check the ink jets to see if they are clogged.
