Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I HAVE A HARMON KARDON AVR 310 RECEIVER. I HAVE NOT USED IT IN ALMOST A YEAR BUT I REMEMBER IT BEING COMPLICATED TO USE. I WENT TO USE IT YESTERDAY, AND IT POWERS UP FINE, BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO PLAY SOMETHING THROUGH IT, THE ONLY TIME YOU HEAR ANYTHING IS WHILE YOU ARE TURNING THE VOLUME KNOB. IF I TURN THE VOLUME KNOB BACK AND FORTH, YOU WILL HEAR SOUND, BUT AS SOON AS YOU STOP TURNING THE KNOB, THERE IS NO SOUND AT ALL. I ALSO THINK IT USED TO LIGHT UP ON THE LEFT SIDE SHOWING THE SURROUND MODE IT IS IN, AND THAT ISN'T LIGHTING UP. THANKS, MARK.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

AVR 310

You're right this is a complicated beast to set up! I suggest you go through the manual & follow the setup guides there.

Possibly the unit has been muted via the remote control?

Can I connect guitar to my Harmon Kardon receiver

Sorry. They are not compatible. The headphone jack is an output but you need an input for a guitar or bass. You will certainly damage the HK if you continue. There are no compatable inputs on the HK. The inputs are meant to be used with a 300mv output device, such as a CD or DVD.

I want to connect my old Sony turntable to my Harmon Kardon AVR130 but whatever I do the volume is very low and I cannot get it working. Any idea how to solve this issue?

If your turntable is old, it probably does not have a built in amplifier. You might want to purchase a pre-amp to boost the signal a bit before it goes into the receiver.

Harmon Kardon AVR 235 no sound

Ensure that your speakers are connected to the terminals that you have your speaker selector switch turned to.
Then check that you have your device, whether it be a CD or DVD player, or turntable, plugged into the correct input and that you also have the correct input selected on the receiver.

Was using the harmon kardon avr 225 receiver and the front panel went out. .... screen display of the channel number, volume, or menu item does not work. ...

Try hooking up a yellow video wire from the back of the AVR 225 Monitor out. Should be at the end of the 7 or 8 yellow video ports on the back of the stereo. Next plug the other end into a yellow video in on a t.v. Get your remote, (Harmon/Kardon) and make sure the t.v. is on the correct video input and hit the OSD(on screen display) button on your harmon remote. There should be a setting in there that says VFD under ADVANCED menu option that allows for turning the front of your stereo lights on and off and dimming them half way also. OFF/HALF/FULL are the 3 options I believe.

If this doesnt solve it your display may have crapped out on you.
