I just bought a dlink router for wireless network, but when i went to install a dvd to my computer, but drive does not work so what can i do now? Please replay me and give me your contact number please.

You do not have to use the cd.
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy New Year!

What is the best router to use for this model

Any router would work, I would suggest a Linksys, or a D-link .

When you get the router, do not use the cd that comes with it,set it all up, then follow the steps below:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

My SSID is not showing up under the available wifi settings all of a sudden, and the only thing i have done recently was change the name of our SSID

Power cycle your modem and router for 1minute. Then plug in modem first wait 30 sec. then plug in the router. See if this may help. If not you may need to reset the router by pressing and holding reset button on back of router for ten seconds. Then reconfigure the wireless configurations and it should fix issue. If not you could see about any firmware updates for the router on there webpage.

I CAN NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ..using Linksy wireless remote

the wireless card installed to your computer is working..as you said you can view all wireless networks...your computer is good too...the only issue is you cant connect to the wireless router...

turn off and unplug the power cable of the Modem
turn off and unplug the power cable the router

wait for 30 seconds
plug in and turn on the modem, wait for all the light turn to solid green ( no blinking lights )

then power on the router

if you saw the wireless icon light turn solid...

go to your computer...right click the wireless icon...select repair

if this doesnt work....reset your internet router by press and hold the reset button behind the router near the power plug (atleast 15 sec)

then connect your PC..the wireless network dont have the WEP key anymore because of the reset..you can reconfigure and put back the WEP key when you get connected.

Confused

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:

Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

Cannot connect wireless 802.11b/g router to the internet on my vista home basic using the cd or following instructions in book provided

Rather than using the cd, it may be best to browse to the router's built in web page to configure. Your documentation should give you the default IP address, username, and password.

If connecting your router to a cable modem, turn off the router, turn off the cable modem for 30 secs. (unplug if necessary). turn the cable modem back on, turn the router back on, verify your pc is connected to the router. After 5-30 secs, depending on your devices, DHCP should assign IP addresses to each device and connect to the internet.

Loosing linksys Router instructed cd to set up

Have had many time problems with the router:

Do the following: If you have a router and a linksys modem do it to both.
Disconnect the power source from the router and disconnect the ethernet cable wait about 30 seconds .. plug back in the power sources (do not just pull the plug that goes into the wall...... remove the black little cord that plugs into the router)
In some cases (if the above doesn't work the first time..) you may also want to completely unscrew the coaxial cable from your broadband provider ) and wait 30 seconds or a minute and follow through with the unplug resetting..
Note: there are also reset features on the back of your modem and router.. it never hurts to use those once in awhile

on router.. there little button that pops out in the back .. just hold it in for 2 0r 3 seconds and release..
on modem... SEE that tiny little hole between the power supply and the ethernet plug.. carefully insert a paper clip into the hole..no you won't get electrocuted.. and GENTLY push the reset ...
Hope this helps.
