How much power does your power supply give? It could be that your power supply cannot take the power of your videocard. They say it is recommended to have at least 700watts of power with that videocard as it consumes a lot of power.

You can checkhttp://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEn... to check your specifications. I don't know if it is really accurate, but when i checked, using your videocard it only consumes 40+ watts. It could be that your specs are "just about" for your power supply. So, when running at full load it may be just a bit over the required power. You could take off some unused peripherals like the floppy drive, maybe some unused PCI cards or some beautifications. It will save you a few wattage, but maybe thats all you need.

Screen not starting after installing graphics card

Hi rohit1987,

The XFX NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 PCI Express card uses two DVI ports on the back of the card. Display is most likely coming from the second port. Try moving your monitor cable to the next DVI port. You can do this while your system is running.
If you still do not receive display, post that here & we'll go over some other possibilities.

Good luck rohit1987!
Thank you for using fixya.

Hello, Problem with 8600 GT egeforce graphics card

Sounds like the card is defective or your power supply is not hefty enough to drive the new card. Also check that the card is seated fully.
