Hello dungtaff,

Fom what you describe it sound like you might have a faulty cigarette lighter lead. This may have caused higher voltage that normal to be input to the TomTom. If possible have the lead checked for its voltage output as it should be around 5v . Unfortunatly , if the lead has put too much voltas into your TomTom then it will have damaged it inside usually causing 1 or more IC's to blow. The repair will not be possible at home DIY style as it requires special soldering techniques and tools as the parts are extremely small. A seach on the internet or maybe ebay will give you some repair people.

The first problem you had might not be the same problem as this time . For resetting the TomTom you only need to do a single momentary push of the button ( not too hard as the reset button is delicate ) . This does a quick disconnect of the battery causing reset of proccessors. You might also try another type of reset where you hold the ON button whilst again doing a momentary push of the rest button. Ideally you should then have the TomTom on charge when you first attempt to switch it on after the reset. Please get your car lead checked before doing any of this.

GOOD LUCK.

How to find the route instruction on tomtom go

Assuming you already have specified where you wish to go, and the device shows the map (of your current location) on the screen,
you can touch the screen to see the MENU screen ... then look for (on the Menu screen) a browse map option, and you'll see the route (to your destination) displayed.
If you're looking for a list of turn by turn text instructions, e.g. turn right to XXXX street, go for NN miles, etc. you may not find it displayed on your TomTom device.

Hi can i, is it possible to view all destinations visited with tomtom, not just recent destinations?

Sorry the tomtom will only remember about 40 previous trips, it automatically deletes the old ones once a new destination is added

Driving back from Dorset to London today the screen froze around 90 miles from London. it's displaying waiting for valid GPS signal. Any ideas on a solution.

yep, possibly slipped a cog ( metaphorically)

try resetting the BAUD rate and the PORT in settings. can happen if some electrical interference was experienced ( UFO?)

Deleaying directions

Hi,

I am not sure exactly what your problem is as you don't give much detail but I assume you are having problems with your TomTom continuing to give directions to some destination you already went to.

To stop previous directions :
  • Tap the screen
  • Move Right through the pages available until you see Icon for "Clear Route"
  • Select " Clear Route " and the directions should stop
  • Remember , each time you use your TomTom to go to a new destination once you have got there you will need to clear the route ( as above ) in order to stop your TomTom trying to take you there again.
Good Luck

You've done the hard (full) reset aswell?
Is it still under warranty? I've seen a few odd problems like these with tomtoms.

One can only presume you have not yet been fully schooled in GPS navigation, and to this i say - there is no better method then to start with the good old user manual.

I have taken the liberty of looking up the PDF link for you.

  • This is the GO 910 User Manual in PDF (online version)

  • TomTom free software updates, product manuals and installation posters which you can either read online or download.
