Repacing w the same type and capacity is fine or you can upgrade to a better one, with a different capacity, ensure first with the manufacturer sometimes there is a limit as far as capacity is concern, i believed yours is IDE connection, rpm is not an issue only the capacity.

sometimes it will not be recognize by your system if it does not support higher capacity, call the manufacturer for complete update, you might want to update the bios too

You gotta a bad hard drive and it's not recognized when the computer is powered up. The ZE2000 uses good old 2.5", 9.5mm(height) ATA/IDE drives and the stock drives are of the slower variety (4200rpm rotation speed) - it's probably easy enough that anyone can get a new one (and a faster one of 5400rpm or 7200rpm) and replace it within a minute or two. Best source for these things is by mail: buy 'em on Amazon or eBay and in general, don't pay over 50 cents per gigabyte or you'll look like a tourist.

HP puts out its service manual online, so I'll just pass along the link (this may or may not be for your exact model, but for hard drive replacement, it's all the same):

HDD replacement is page 110, I believe. Removing and installing a hard drive should take no more than 120 seconds.

Of course, you'll have the load Windows after the installation, and that'll take roughly 60-90 minutes.

I have aemachine w4620 with 80g hard drive and 1g memory, can i upgrade my hard driveand will it takemore memory?

Max memory is 2GB. The stock hard drive is an 80GB ATA/IDE type, 4200rpm - larger ones are available in 100G, 120G, 160G, 320G, and .. I believe 500G. So the answer is: both can be upgraded or, more precisely, replaced with higher capacities.

My hard drive is bad - It had windows xp home edition - I want to replace my hard drive and load xp home back on it. it was a 60gb 4200rpm travelstar drive - what can i replace it with?

Any ide 2.5 laptop hard drive will work.

the IDE is the important part, it's the older style. Don't get SATA.

The size of the drive doesn't matter.

Hope this info helps.

My Dell Lap Top needs a hard drive installed

any 2.5" ATA-6 (a.k.a. Ultra ATA) will work

Your laptop came with a:
Ultra ATA Hard Drive, 4200RPM hard drive

I suggest this one:

But, Any 2.5" ATA-6...also known as ultra ATA, will suffice..........go with 5400 RPM speed drive.......I suggest either Western Digital or they are the most dependable brands of hard disc drives.

And to replace it, here is an online service manual to guide you:

There ya go!

BIOS not detecing hard drive.

Are you connecting to your machine through usb?, if so that's the problem, the usb is turned on after the bios turn on . Unless the drive is connected through the ide or a sata connector, it's not going to be recognised until the machine boots. You would have to instruct the bios to boot from your usb device. then it should see it after boot

Dear I have a sony vaio vgn-cr220e laptop, whith a hard drive of 200 GB. I would like to replace by other hard drive of more capacity (about 500Gb o 1TB). Please, suggest to me what model of drive i have...

you need a Serial ATA hard drive, and you may have a limit to how big of a hard drive you can go to.
Go to your local computer supply store and tell them what you need,,and they will sell you a compatible unit.
As to what type of drives to buy,,,,there are many types of drives,,and many opinions,,get the highest spin rate is all i would suggest.

Fujitsu Drive installation on Armada M700 Laptop

I would stay away from fujitsu hard drives. They are complete trash. I would stick with either Seagate Western Digital or IBM. I have the hitachi that came with the machine and although it is slow it still works after over 10 years. I would like to know more about your situation if you need help installing it tell me what it is doing.

Seagate 100GB Hard Drive for notebook SMART failure

Solution #1 is grossly incorrect. The S.M.A.R.T. mechanism is software/application/drive content agnostic. It is a firmware-based predictive failure feature. If the S.M.A.R.T. test returns a certain bit, then the drive is degrading and in need of replacement. If the disk is under warranty, then it generally qualifies for free replacement. If it is not under warranty, then you can run diagnostics such as which can sometimes identify the specifics. Sometimes the problem is transient, like the disk was powered on/off too many times in a short amount of time, or the temperature is too high.
