Hard drive replacement

I need to replace my hard drive. It is a FUJITSU MHV2100AT 100GB 4200RPM, do i need to replace it with this same exact one? If not, how do I know which will be compatible?

Repacing w the same type and capacity is fine or you can upgrade to a better one, with a different capacity, ensure first with the manufacturer sometimes there is a limit as far as capacity is concern, i believed yours is IDE connection, rpm is not an issue only the capacity.

sometimes it will not be recognize by your system if it does not support higher capacity, call the manufacturer for complete update, you might want to update the bios too

Time to upgrade to a larger spaced drive. The prices for ATA drives have dropped very low. Many are purchasing 1TB drives these days. If 100GB is enough for you. Replace the old one. I love you too!

Can i make my 80GB hard drive to 100GB? 80GB 7200rpm SATA SAMSUNG

This is not possible, 80Gb is 80Gb and 100gb is 100gb, but I am afraid, even if you like to replace, you'll not be able to get 100gb since it's no a standard Hard disk capacity. If you are trying to upgrade, then you can find 120gb, 160gb, 250gb, 320gb etc... Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Wanting to put a faster hard drive with more storage ???

The things you want to look for are a ultra ATA laptop drive. Thats is the type of connector you have to match up and you need to match up the size. The only thing that you might run tino is size limit on the drive. I tried swapping a 100 in for a 60 and it wouldn;t recognize it. It should have but it wouldn't. So you may want to do a bit of research to makre sure you don't go too big and then have it not work. I don't see what brand or model of laptop this is so can't look that up for you. What you can do is contact the support for your brands and get them to ask how big will work. It might take a few days to get back to you but they should be able to tell you and save you buying somethign that won't work.

Hard drive replacement

Hi there, I have an HP nx6110 and it had a WD 60GB 4200 rpm IDE, I bought a Seagate 80GB IDE Hdd and it worked fine. The only think you should be careful is to check if you need a SATA Hdd or IDE Hdd, but I think it's a SATA.

Fujitsu Drive installation on Armada M700 Laptop

I would stay away from fujitsu hard drives. They are complete trash. I would stick with either Seagate Western Digital or IBM. I have the hitachi that came with the machine and although it is slow it still works after over 10 years. I would like to know more about your situation if you need help installing it tell me what it is doing.

Do a Google search for "SATA adaptor for laptops". This should point you to available SATA to USB adaptors. Haven't clue how well they work, but they are out there

Seagate 100GB Hard Drive for notebook SMART failure

Solution #1 is grossly incorrect. The S.M.A.R.T. mechanism is software/application/drive content agnostic. It is a firmware-based predictive failure feature. If the S.M.A.R.T. test returns a certain bit, then the drive is degrading and in need of replacement. If the disk is under warranty, then it generally qualifies for free replacement. If it is not under warranty, then you can run diagnostics such as which can sometimes identify the specifics. Sometimes the problem is transient, like the disk was powered on/off too many times in a short amount of time, or the temperature is too high.
